SNOPES states: Contrary to what multiple news reports initially stated, no evidence has surfaced documents that Nathan Phillips was deployed to Vietnam at any time during his military service.

The Marine Corps confirmed to Fox News on Wednesday that Phillips never served in the Vietnam War and wasn’t deployed overseas.

So while he was a refrigerator mechanic in the Marines, he was not a veteran of the Vietnam war.

But what we do have documented is pretty bad, including 3 AWOLs and prison time. In 1974, Phillips pleaded guilty to assault charges and was fined $200. In later years, he faced numerous other charges and arrest.

Phillips falsely accused Covington Catholic High School students of swarming, surrounding, and mocking him in front of the Lincoln Memorial during the March for Life. He has been lying.

Nathan Phillips went AWOL THREE TIMES while he was stationed at El Toro Marine Base in Southern California, according to his DD-214 form.

AWOL 3 times!

The media piled on the teens last week for ‘disrespecting’ and ‘mobbing’ a poor Vietnam Vet. Then it was discovered that a hate group across the street, as well as Phillips and his crew, were actually the predators. New additional footage that emerged over the weekend debunked his version of the event, showing him approaching the students rather than the students taunting him.

Native American activist Nathan Phillips claimed in each report that he  served in the U.S. Marines and told many news outlets that he was a “Vietnam-times” or “Vietnam-era” veteran.

A veteran is a former member of the Armed Forces of the United States: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. One that served on active duty and who was discharged under conditions, which were other than dishonorable.

According to multiple news accounts, the activist is 64 years old, which means he would have been 18 years old in 1973, the last year any U.S. combat units were stationed in Vietnam.

Mr. Phillips also claims to be a Vietnam ‘Marine’ veteran. The last Marine combat units left Vietnam in 1971.

He claimed he was a Recon Ranger. There is no such thing as a Marine Recon Ranger, Rangers are in the Army.

His entire military education was as a basic electrician in the Marine Corps . He served in Lincoln, Nebraska, he served as a refer mach.

When asked Thursday on the “Today Show” how he characterized his military service, Phillips replied:

“I went to boot camp. I stayed there. That Marine Corps was a reservist guy, so I stayed in the reserves for a couple years. That was during the time of the American Indian Movement, the AIM trials. There were a lot of things going on during those years and The Vietnam War was still going on.”

But, there’s more!

Phillips committed numerous crimes while in the service including underage drinking, assault and escaping from a penal complex. Nathan Phillips was arrested for escaping from prison!

Hours after the Covington debacle, Phillips led a group of activists that tried to disrupt mass at  Washington, DC’s Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception during a Saturday evening Mass.

The group of agitators was stopped by shrine security as it tried to enter the church during a Saturday evening Vigil Mass, according to a shrine security guard on duty during the Mass.

“It was really upsetting,” one guard said.

“There were about 20 people trying to get in, we had to lock the doors and everything.”

The guard said the incident was a disappointment during a busy and joyful weekend for the shrine.

“We had hundreds and hundreds of people from all over the country come here to celebrate life, to celebrate each other together. That a protest tried to come inside during Mass was really the worst.”

The guard told CNA the situation was “tense.”

So he is a prison escapee, a liar, likes to disrupt peaceful people, hates cops, and we are supposed to feel sorry for him?

I do not think so.
