Steve Bannon, Chief Strategist for President Trump recently told an audience at Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) 2017 in Maryland that, “If you think you’re going to get your country back without a fight, you are sadly mistaken.” Those words are so true. Just look around our nation at the many recent organized protests by progressive liberals at town halls.
Republicans have been targeted by many of these paid liberal protesters. Most of the groups are being organized by sore losers from the Democratic Party, are members from groups such as Indivisible and Obama’s Organizing for Action. The soul purpose of these liberal groups is to cause disruption and create an illusion that all Americans are upset Trump was elected president. Totally insane!
Republicans such as Rep. Jason Chaffetz, Sen. Tom Cotton, Majority Leader and Sen. Mitch McConnell, Sen. Dave Brat, Sen. Chuck Grassley and others have been targeted. However, these same progressive liberals went over the top, when they protested at Sen. Bill Cassidy’s (R) recent townhall in Metairie, Louisiana. Not only were these liberal goons protesting conservatives, but they had the nerve to protest against The Pledge of Allegiance and prayer.
H/T Free Beacon:
Cassidy scheduled the town hall to discuss various issues including immigration, health care, and the economy. However, many people in the crowd would not listen to Cassidy, and instead heckled him and yelled out slogans commonly heard at anti-Republican rallies.
Before Cassidy addressed the crowd and took questions, Louisiana State chaplain Dr. Michael Sprague announced that he would begin the prayer. As soon as he said “prayer” the crowd erupted.
Several people could be heard yelling, “Prayer? Prayer?” while other people yelled, “Separation of church and state.”
Another person added, “Pray on your own time. This is our time.”
The yelling softened as the prayer went on, but erupted again when Sprague concluded, “We pray in Jesus’ name.”
Several people began yelling about the separation of church and state again.
The people shouting about separation of church and state were not incorrect when they asserted the chaplain was infringing on their religious rights. The 2014 Supreme Court case, Town of Greece v. Galloway, protects the opening prayer at legislative sessions.
The crowd did not let up with the heckling following the opening prayer, and continued to yell as a local veteran took the microphone to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
Dozens of people did not stand for the Pledge. Instead, many of them sat down and continued to yell at Cassidy.
One man yelled, “Do your job.” Another woman yelled, “Get on with it.” And another man near the front of the room yelled, “Your words run hollow. Your words run hollow.”
“Unfortunately,” Gohmert wrote, “at this time there are groups from the more violent strains of the leftist ideology, some even being paid, who are preying on public town halls to wreak havoc and threaten public safety. Threats are nothing new to me and I have gotten my share as a felony judge. However, the House Sergeant at Arms advised us after former congresswoman Gabby Gifford was shot at a public appearance, that civilian attendees at congressional public events stand the most chance of being harmed or killed – just as happened there.”
It’s unbelievable right?! How insane these crybaby, loser Democrats have become. These liberal idiots didn’t even show ANY respect for the Pledge of Allegiance or Prayer. They couldn’t even respect the words, “One nation under God with Liberty and Justice for All.” They didn’t even respect one of the soldiers, a veteran at this meeting, who served our country and fought to defend their freedoms for them.
These progressive protesters are nothing more than Democratic losers who can’t handle the truth. They can’t handle having a president who wants to restore law and order using the Constitution, the same Constitution our country was founded on.
In addition, sadly enough, it was only recently that our Supreme Court ruled 5-4 on a similar case about opening local government meeting with sectarian prayers. They ruled “sectarian prayers doesn’t violate the Establishment Clause as long as no religion is advanced or disparaged, and residents aren’t coerced.”
“As a practice that has long endured, legislative prayer has become part of our heritage and tradition, part of our expressive idiom, similar to the Pledge of Allegiance, inaugural prayer, or the recitation of ‘God save the United States and this honorable court’ at the opening of this court’s sessions,” Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote.
“The First Amendment is not a majority rule, and government may not seek to define permissible categories of religious speech,” Kennedy said. “Once it invites prayer into the public sphere, government must permit a prayer-giver to address his or her own God or gods as conscience dictates.”
The court’s 30-year-old precedent, Marsh v. Chambers, upheld the Nebraska Legislature’s funding of a chaplain who delivered daily prayers. Chief Justice Warren Burger ruled then that such prayers were “part of the fabric of our society.” The decision prohibited only those prayers that take sides by advancing or disparaging a particular religion.
The case hinged on these words from the First Amendment: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” That has come to be known as the Establishment Clause.
Who on the Supreme Court wrote the principle dissent? Justice Elena Kagan. Who nominated Kagan to the Supreme Court? President Obama.
By the way both houses of Congress have opened with prayers since 1789.
Democrats have never been about educating the sheeple with the truth. They would prefer to have the American people undereducated and dependent on government; it means more votes for them. It also means they can still control them.
Isn’t it time we educate the sheeple? Isn’t it time we all step up together ‘as one nation under God with liberty and justice for all’ and help President Trump ‘Make America Great Again’?
Is it too much to ask progressive liberal protesters to stand with their hands over their heart and say the pledge? Oh, that’s right, I almost forgot….we just finished 8 years with this…
…and liberals wonder why Trump was elected president? Maybe most of Americans just want to ensure we still have a Constitution and enough conservatives on the Supreme Court who will still rule by it.
