The contentious nuclear deal put in place under the Obama administration with the help of the President and Secretary of State John Kerry caused much debate between liberals and conservatives. Republicans have made no secret of wanting to dismantle it as it takes away power from the United States. But Speaker of the House Paul Ryan recently admitted to something inside the nuclear deal that is far worse than we ever imagined.
Ryan appeared on NBC’s “Meet The Press” this past Sunday to discuss the Obama era nuclear deal. The speaker said the deal is very likely to remain intact regardless of promises by the President that he would work to dismantle it. He said the following to journalist Chuck Todd,
“A lot of that toothpaste is already out of the tube. I never supported the deal in the first place. I thought it was a huge mistake, but the multilateral sanctions are done. I don’t think you’re going to go back and reconstitute the multilateral sanctions that were in place. So I think the key is to rigorously enforce this deal.”
He emphasized wanting to ramp up sanctions and remain litigious in enforcing strict rules. He stated,
“But also, remember, they’re testing ballistic missiles. They’re still the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world. Human rights abuses galore. And so those are where I think we also need to ratchet up sanctions. I think what this administration is doing, which I agree with, is saying, ‘We have a new administration, and we’re going to hold you, Iran, to account. This last administration did not do that.”
Todd proferred that Iran might retaliate against the United States if we ramped up litigious sanctions. However, Ryan laughed it off insisting that things were already much worse when we were appeasing them and not treating them like the serious threat that they are. Just last week new sanctions were placed on the country after they had continued to violate United Nations rules that prohibited the testing of medium range ballistic missiles.
Just last week National Security Advisor General Michael Flynn put Iran “on notice” about their continued missile testing. Showing the Trump administration is not taking any prisoners and will not deal with the nonsense that the Obama administration did.
The sanctions placed on Iran were also placed on thirteen other countries part of three networks. As well as over a dozen different entities. One is associated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps who work with Hezbollah. Trump maintains none of these sanctions violate the initial nuclear deal. But Iran held military exercises over the weekend in defiance threatening to hit their enemies with missiles.
America is not safe with a President who appeases terrorists. Or one who is willing to give our power away to others. President Trump would certainly never do that to this country. He is already showing his willingness to rule with an iron fist. While not politically correct or beautiful looking it will definitely keep us safe and nobody can argue with that.
