Omar Doubles Down On Anti-Semitism: ‘I Should Not Be Expected To Have Allegiance’ To Israel

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is doubling down on her anti-Semitism… again. Once again, she has set Congress and social media on fire with her anti-Semitic comments to a Jewish member of Congress, accusing the congresswoman of wanting her to have dual loyalties to Israel. Every time Omar does this, she gaslights politicians over it and denies what she is doing.

Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY) is Jewish and he is also the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He blasted Omar for her anti-Semitic remarks she has made over the last week. Engel blasted Omar for what he called a “vile anti-Semitic slur,” and demanded, “that she retract them, apologize, and commit to making her case on policy issues without resorting to attacks that have no place in the Foreign Affairs Committee or the House of Representatives.”

Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY) was the congresswoman who got into it with Omar as well. She tweeted: “Lawmakers must be able to debate w/o prejudice or bigotry. I am saddened that Rep. Omar continues to mischaracterize support for Israel. I urge her to retract this statement and engage in further dialogue with the Jewish community on why these comments are so hurtful.”

Omar shot back from a congressional trip to the Horn of Africa, responding defiantly to Lowey: “Our democracy is built on debate, Congresswoman! I should not be expected to have allegiance/pledge support to a foreign country in order to serve my country in Congress or serve on committee. The people of the 5th elected me to serve their interest. I am sure we agree on that!”

This is a brazen insinuation that Jewish people expect her to have dual loyalties to Israel. It’s a typical trope used by those who hate Israel and Jews in general. “I have not mischaracterized our relationship with Israel, I have questioned it and that has been clear from my end,” Omar said, which by the way is not the truth. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) made a similar comment in January, for which she was also criticized.

Omar went on to say: “I have not said anything about the loyalty of others, but spoke about the loyalty expected of me. There is the difference.” Again, she’s not telling the truth here. Engel was specifically ripping Omar over her comments about the loyalties of others.

Omar was pushing an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that her “Jewish colleagues” had “designed” a plan to accuse her of being anti-Semitic “to end the debate” on Israel.

From The Daily Wire:

“Moments later, Omar pushed the anti-Semitic dual loyalty canard, saying: “I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is okay to push for allegiance to a foreign country [Israel].”

“Omar’s latest round of anti-Semitic remarks drew a lot of criticism from notable figures in the media and in politics:

“Someone please write ‘Antisemitism for Dummies,”’ Bret Stephens tweeted. “Nobody expects @IlhanMN to pledge ‘allegiance’ to Israel. But her attacks on pro-Israel Americans of doing so is a charge of dual loyalty. That is classic anti-Semitism.”

“Keep on saying this,” Jim Hanson tweeted. “You knew what it meant the first time and none of your non-apologies meant a thing You are equating support for Israel w/ dual loyalty & that is anti-Semitic How long can the Dems carry this hater.”

“This one shows just how deep in the bubble she is,” Seth Mandel tweeted. “For ten years this is the lie the left has tried to sell—we’re only opposed to Bibi—and there were just so many ppl dumb enough to let them get away with it. I’m grateful Omar has finally revealed it as the lie it’s always been.”

“She just keeps doubling down on the dual loyalty smear and Democratic leadership simply doesn’t give a crap,” Ben Shapiro tweeted.

“Look, the words of an anti-Semitic disgrace to Congress,” Adam Kredo tweeted.”

Jewish Democrats are at least speaking up on this anti-Semitism that is coming from numerous sources now. But most of the Democratic Party is dead silent on it. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) acknowledged that Omar’s rhetoric was anti-Semitic, but refused to remove her from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

The Dems seem cool with hatred, racism, and bigotry these days, all the while accusing Republicans of what they themselves are pushing. It’s alarming and shameful. This is what progressivism and socialism invite in and the Democrat Party is rife with it.

SooperMexican at The RightScoop put it best: “C’mon Omar pace yourself!! You have to spread out your racist bigotry over your term, you can’t just blurt it all out at the beginning! Young bigots, they never learn.”
