Ocasio-Cortez’s Wonder Woman Comic Book Cover Subject Of Cease-And-Desist Letter From DC Comics

It turns out that DC Comics is not amused with Devils Due Comics who produced “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez & The Freedom Force: New Party, Who Dis?” They did a number of covers for the comic… one shows the congresswoman as Wonder Woman, draped in the flag, in a classic pose. That elicited a cease-and-desist letter telling the publisher to knock it off. Looks like DC Comics is not a fan of socialists.

I watched Wonder Woman and it was too liberal and progressive for my taste, although I’m a huge fan of Gad Gadot. Fans on the left and right both loved the movie. Devils Due Comics, however, took their iconic worship of Ocasio-Cortez too far. Ocasio-Cortez loves herself even more than her minions that drool over every word uttered by the Democratic Socialist. But Wonder Woman? Seriously?

The Ocasio-Cortez/Wonder Woman cover was commissioned for the NY Collector’s Cave, reported Bleeding Cool, and had a tiny print run of only 250. Because of AOC gracing the cover, it got a lot of publicity and the attention of DC Comics. Bleeding Cool followed up on Friday, only two day’s after the first post, stating that the comic cover “in which AOC bears a stunning resemblance to Wonder Woman” was now getting attention from lawyers for DC Comics.

“Grab a hamberder and grab a cup of covfefe and prepare to enjoy this read!” a promotional webpage reads, citing jargon associated with President Trump. Devils Due Comics advertises several comics with political themes, like “Talk Bernie to Me” and “Barack the Barbarian.”

DC Comics demanded that the comic not be distributed but recalled and returned or destroyed. It is copy infringement. However, by the time it had progressed to that point, the comic was already distributed. Many collectors were able to get a copy. Anyone caught trying to resell the comic is also subject to legal action by DC Comics.

From TheBlaze:

“Emily Zanotti, writing at the Daily Wire, notes that this small run is now an endangered artifact because the company celebrating her Democratic socialism is actually fully capitalist. But that same capitalist blade cut in her favor, too.

“Thanks to capitalism — something the Congresswoman in question regularly derides — the threat of a DC Comics lawsuit has turned the AOC/Wonder Woman book from a novelty into a collector’s item,” wrote Zanotti.

“Yes, what may have gone down as a silly indulgence will now become a precious and valuable comic collectible. Because you can’t spell commodity without oddity, assuming you aren’t very good at spelling.

“Oh, and the ones that got out before the lawyers? Already for sale on EBay. You gotta love capitalism.

“By the way, it’s not just AOC. They also have a Bernie Sanders comic. He’s He-Man on that cover. No, seriously.”

In the comic, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez takes Washington, DC by storm, transforming the government into a progressive utopia and battling conservative arch-enemies like President Trump and the National Rifle Association. It’s laughable but there is somewhat of a market for it. You gotta love capitalism where even socialists prosper.

Per a release from Devil’s Due:

It’s Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the “Freshmen Force” (of Congress) vs. the establishment in this all-new special! Comic creators converge to celebrate the election of the most diverse group of freshman Representatives in history, and spare no-one in this satire that takes aim at Washington. From the house that brought you Barack the Barbarian! Featuring comics from various artists and bonus activities and games.

The comic book retails for approximately $5. Which is far more than it is actually worth. The Wonder Woman version of the comic is going for between $30 and $70 on eBay. It comes with a free lawsuit for those interested.
