Newsweek FIRES Reporter Jessica Kwong Over Fake Trump Thanksgiving News Story
Newsweek just announced that they have fired Jessica Kwong.
Newsweek reporter Jessica Kwong wrote a story Thanksgiving morning with the headline: How is Trump Spending Thanksgiving? Tweeting, Golfing and MORE! It was not very long after her article was published that we knew the President was actually in Afghanistan feeding breakfast to the troops. Newsweek just announced that they have fired Jessica Kwong.
Jessica Kwong was a political reporter for Newsweek, but specifically, she covered the Trump administration, family, and the 2020 race.
The headline went viral when the President’s son, Don Jr. Tweeted a picture of the article, mocking the insanity of the hit job and making a very clear case for reality vs fake news. Jessica Kwong has since deleted the tweet, and apologized, but Newsweek still gave her the kick.
Don Jr. responded again:
“It wasn’t an “honest mistake” you tried to dunk on Trump and ended up dunking on yourself because you couldn’t resist. Notice how there’s never been a story that broke in Trump’s favor & had to be corrected the other way? These aren’t mistakes, they are a very consistent pattern.”

Don is correct. There HAS been a consistent pattern, of MANY in the media, looking for every gotcha they can write on, and many times, having to reverse their stand after it was discovered that the facts were incorrect, or even a down right lie.

Newsweek responded to the incident.
“Newsweek investigated the failures that led to the publication of the inaccurate report that President Trump spent Thanksgiving tweeting and golfing rather than visiting troops in Afghanistan,” a Newsweek representative told the Washington Examiner. “The story has been corrected, and the journalist responsible has been terminated. We will continue to review our processes and, if required, take further action.”
It happens a lot. The NYT has had to walk back at least three ‘gotcha’ articles about the president that I know of. In September, the Huffington Post wrote the following headline:
Acting Director Of National Intelligence Threatened To Quit Over House Testimony: Report
The ‘quote line’ under the headline in the article itself stated:
“Joseph Maguire disputes the report as he prepares to testify before Congress about a damning whistleblower complaint.”
The third and forth paragraphs of the SAME article stated:
“Both the White House and Maguire himself, however, dispute the claim that the acting director threatened to quit if he were muzzled at the hearing.
“At no time have I considered resigning my position since assuming this role on Aug. 16, 2019,” Maguire said in a statement. “I have never quit anything in my life, and I am not going to start now.””
The 5th paragraph:
“In a tweet responding to the Post’s scoop, White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham wrote, “This is actually not true. And we would have gone on the record to say that if the [Post] had given us more than 6 minutes (literally) to respond.” Trump also knocked the report, saying Wednesday in a news conference, “The Amazon Washington Post just put out a fake article that [Maguire] was going to quit.””
But the headline, remained the same, with the HuffPo knowing GOOD AND WELL that many just see the headline: Acting Director Of National Intelligence Threatened To Quit Over House Testimony: Report
Now here is my take. I write. So I get it! I love a good headline making Nancy Pelosi look silly, and she provides plenty of fodder. I despise socialism. While I think AOC is a hoot, and we would probably be friends in real life, I love to use her as an example of what a true socialist wants. 3 out of 4 of The Squad are facing legal problems due to breaking campaign finance laws. I enjoy writing about that.
What you don’f find me doing, Jessica Kwong, is predicting what Pelosi, AOC, Omar, Biden or any other Democrat is going to do silly or news worthy. I don’t get ahead of myself. That is what you did that got you in a mess, and made you look silly.
As well, my headlines match the article. I don’t write one thing in the headline, and then debunk it in the body. That, is as well, what Jessica Kwong did. She made a statement in her headline as truth, and then threw a ‘probably’ in her article, which made for a very misleading headline.
Sorry Jessica Kwong… maybe this job was not for you!
