Never-Trump Romney: ‘I Read The Full Mueller Report, It Does Not Contain Evidence Of Obstruction’
Mitt Romney has been the most high profile Republican antagonist and critic of President Trump, but this week he is defending him. Romney has read the entire Mueller Report and came to the conclusion that the President did not obstruct justice. Romney made the claim in an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN’s State of the Union.
“I just don’t think that there is the full element that you need to prove an obstruction of justice case,” Romney said. “I don’t think impeachment is the right way to go.”
“Well I think every individual has to make their own judgment. I think it helps to actually have read the entire document [Mueller report]. It’s a long document. It took me two full days to get through it, and the second volume is more difficult to get through than the first. So, hopefully more people read it,” said Romney.
“My own view is that Justin Amash has reached a different conclusion than I have. I respect him. I think it’s a courageous statement. But I believe to make a case for obstruction of justice, you just don’’t have the elements that are evidenced in this document,” he said.
“The American people just aren’t there,” he added. “The Senate is certainly not there, either.”
“Reading the report is a sobering revelation of how far we have strayed from the aspirations and principles of the founders,” Romney said.
The almost entirely redacted report has been available for some in the legislative branch to read in full, however, as of now, no Democrats have taken that opportunity.
Romney and Trump have definitely had an on again off again relationship. Trump endorsed Romney’s 2012 presidential bid. In a scathing March 2016 speech, Romney skewered Trump for his business bankruptcies and caustic campaign rhetoric. Romney has been a frequent critic ever since.
“Here’s what I know: Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University,” Romney said then. “He’s playing the members of the American public for suckers. He gets a free ride to the White House, and all we get is a lousy hat.”
Trump repeatedly lashed out against Romney in response. “Mitt Romney is a mixed-up man who doesn’t have a clue. No wonder he lost!” Trump exclaimed at one point.
In the meantime, those responsible for the roots of the Mueller Report in the first place have been turning on each other right and left as AG Barr begins to seriously investigate the events leading up to the Mueller investigation.
As investigations are both finishing and being launched into the origins of what the Obama DOJ did to facilitate spying on the Donald Trump campaign, the top spymasters are going into CYA mode! Obama Attorney General Loretta Lynch, former FBI director James Comey, former CIA Director John Brennan and and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper are beginning to accuse each other. They are the subjects of a dispute over which top Obama administration officials advocated for the infamous Steele dossier to be utilized as evidence in the Russia collusion investigation.
Comey and Brennan, are both blaming each other for the so-called ‘pee’ dosier!
It is getting rather interesting, and leading to the question:
If there was no collusion, how could there be obstruction?
Keep the popcorn running!
