MSNBC host Joy Reid is at it again. This time she took a swipe at evangelical Christians and supporters of President Trump on her show Saturday, comparing them to a “cult.” The left sure does like to throw around the word ‘cult’ a lot lately. “There’s a lot of ways if you look at like the Public Religion Research Institute numbers that, you know, it isn’t just a pejorative to say that it’s a cult,” Reid said.
“There’s a lot of evidence that is a racial and religious cult of personality in which his base is solidly among the white evangelicals that almost worship him and say that he’s the chosen one of God,” she went on. What about all the Latino and black voters, Joy? Hmmm?
Fox’s Ed Henry criticized Reid:
“I don’t understand why she injected race. I don’t think race applies. Certainly, the vast majority of the president’s supporters are white, but I think we’ve seen in recent weeks and months he’s making a strong play for more and more black voters. We’ll see if he’s successful, but when you have black unemployment at historic lows right now and you have a president who’s trying to reach out to people of all backgrounds and say ‘I want your vote, I need your vote,’ I just don’t understand why race is part of the conversation. It just doesn’t apply and I think some people like to project themselves, own anger at the president, their own criticism and read into what he’s doing or saying rather than just focusing on what he’s actually doing instead of projecting this is what he really means.”
“Reid’s comments come after the Economist/YouGov weekly tracking poll showed that Republicans now believe that Trump is a better president than Abraham Lincoln. The poll found that Republicans — 53 percent to 47 percent — select Trump over Lincoln as a better president.
“However, Americans overall, when Democrats and Independents are measured, still rate Lincoln as better than Trump.
“For what it is worth, Energy Secretary Rick Perry did refer to Trump as God’s “chosen one” in an interview with Fox News last month.
“King David wasn’t perfect. Saul wasn’t perfect. Solomon wasn’t perfect. I actually gave the president a little one-pager on those Old Testament kings about a month ago. I shared it with him. I said, ‘Mr. President, I know there are people that say, you know, you said you were the chosen one.’ And I said, ‘You were.’ If you’re a believing Christian, you understand God’s plan for the people who rule and judge over us on this planet in our government,” Perry said.”
I believe that President Trump stands on his own merits. He’s gotten a lot done as president despite the best efforts of the Democrats. He’s not a racist and the slap at Christians is just sheer religious bigotry.
From The Daily Wire:
“Republicans are asked: Who is a better President: Donald Trump or Abraham Lincoln?” Reid stated, quoting the survey, which was conducted between November 24 – 26 by Economist/YouGov.
“They’re the only group. Only Republicans said Trump was a better president than Lincoln,” Reid continued. “What do make of that?”
“Pitts replied, “Is there a brick wall I can bang my head against a few times?”
“Reid shot back, “I can get you one.”
“I think I need a brick wall before I can answer that. I hadn’t seen, I hadn’t heard of that poll, but it sort of speaks further to the delusionary aspect of the Republican Party right now. This is not a party. This is a cult, and it has been a cult for a long time. And it wasn’t just this Abraham Lincoln quote. I mean, what was it a week or so ago – maybe not even that – that Rick Perry said that Trump was a chosen one, and he wasn’t even the first person to say that … it’s amazing.
“Reid went on to claim that “white evangelicals” in Trump’s base seem to “almost worship” the president. Pitts agreed, saying that there is “a very cult-like aspect” surrounding Trump and his supporters.
“Reid added that she “felt this same kind of vibe during George W. Bush’s presidency.”’
Reid has always hated Trump. The MSNBC host has repeatedly attacked the president on-air and off. In 2017, she claimed that the Trump era was the “worst time to be a human.” “I’ve said to people that this is probably the greatest time to be a journalist, and the worst time to be a human,” she said. How petty. All of that is because of racial bias on her part and the fact that she despises anything that isn’t Marxist.
You’ll recall that Reid made headlines recently for claiming that white Christians may turn the United States into a South Africa-like apartheid state. “When you have a very determined minority, in this case wealthy white men and wealthy white Christian men and Christian Americans who are of the fundamentals variety, who are very clear that no matter what happens if they have to pull the South Africa model to maintain power forever they will do it, and they’re not afraid of it and they’re increasingly open about it and Donald Trump is merely the avatar for this,” she said in September.
So, this is nothing new for Reid or for MSNBC. They are just getting more arrogant and brazen about it.
In case you were wondering, Republicans who were surveyed preferred Trump to Lincoln 53% to 47%.
Funny how Reid didn’t have a problem with Barack Obama being portrayed as a god or a saint. But then again, he’s a leftist.
