MSNBC host Nicholle Wallace faced brutal online backlash after she nonchalantly and falsely claimed that President Donald Trump was talking about “exterminating Latinos.” Totally not kidding here. They say the words:

You think you’ve heard it all. ‘Trump is a racist’. ‘Trump is a white supremacist’. ‘Trump locks kids in cages’. ‘Trump eats chicken with a fork and a spoon’. And then you hear this:

You now have a president, as you said, who is talking about exterminating Latinos’.

Raul Reyes, who frequently appears on CNN, attacked the president for his rhetoric surrounding illegal immigrants, falsely suggesting that Trump called immigrants an “infestation.”

The president used that word when he was discussing cities that were overrun with MS-13 gang members, whose motto is “kill, rape, control.”

“When we have an ‘infestation’ of MS-13 GANGS in certain parts of our country, who do we send to get them out? ICE!” Trump tweeted. “They are tougher and smarter than these rough criminal elelments that bad immigration laws allow into our country. Dems do not appreciate the great job they do!”

The DC Examiner picked this up as well today and in their longer video you hear the guest trying to make the argument that Trump has referred to Latinos as an ‘infestation’:

“Then he ramped it up again to the invasion, the warning people of a caravan and words like ‘infestation.’ What do you do with an infestation? With an infestation, the natural conclusion is attempt an extermination. So, to me there’s very little distinction between his inciting this violence and the fact it’s now happening,” NBC News’ Paul Reyes said.

Wallace walked it back on-air with a another statement implying that President Donald Trump had called for the “extermination of Latinos.”

“I misspoke about Trump calling for an extermination of Latinos,” Wallace tweeted. “My mistake was unintentional and I’m sorry. Trump’s constant assault on people of color and his use of the word ‘invasion’ to describe the flow of immigrants is intentional and constant.”

One problem: It doesn’t sound like it was accidental. In the video, she is positively affirming what her guest says, and then repeats it. That was unintentional?

Then the firestorm started:

Wallace’s apology came after Newsbusters flagged the comments

Wallace’s remarks, which come at a time when many in the media claim to stand against inflammatory rhetoric, were widely condemned.

Host Jason Rantz tweeted: “You have to be a special kind of hack to make an outrageous comment like this. And you know what? That’s exactly what Nicolle Wallace is.”

RNC Rapid Response Director Steve Guest tweeted: “While ⁦@realDonaldTrump calls for national unity, this is what is going on over at MSNBC. This is is completely unhinged, inflammatory, and patently ridiculous rhetoric.”

Then she followed up with more criticism of the president.

“Trump’s constant assault on people of color and his use of the word ‘invasion’ to describe the flow of immigrants is intentional and constant,” she concluded.
