June, July and September are usually the most popular months of the year for young couples to get married in. Schools and colleges around the nation are ending semesters, graduations are done, and many young people are just beginning their new jobs. The weather is often pretty good too.

Many new brides-to-be have done months, if not years of planning, prior to their big day. As the wedding day appoaches, the dress, the hair, the shoes, the menu, the venue, the music, the food, something new, something borrowed, something blue – you name it, it’s all in place. As a bride, you’re excited when the day finally happens. Sure you may have some jitters or be a little nervous, but the ceremony is about to happen and you’re about to make a commitment to the one person you love and cherish, and want to spend the rest of your life with.

Then, that person you love does something special and unique that you may have never expected. That’s the story of one photo of Maggie and Caleb Earwood during their special wedding day that has gone viral after one of their wedding photos was released over Memorial Day weekend. That one photo and the story has gone from ‘Good Morning America’, ‘Fox and Friends’ and even the ‘Today Show’. See why it’s become so popular and gone viral!

H/T Liftable:

Moments before a North Carolina bride named Maggie Earwood walked down the aisle, she found out exactly what type of man she was marrying. Her soon-to-be-husband, U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Caleb Earwood, decided that before any ceremony could take place, there was one thing he needed to take care of.

He needed to pray with his soon-to-be wife. And he needed to do it now.

The heartfelt moment was captured by wedding photographer Dwayne Schmidt, who admitted he could barely keep his composure amid the weepy eyes and overwhelming love that poured out into the room. “As soon as their hands touched he started getting emotional,” Schmidt recalled of the scene.

Per wedding tradition, the couple refrained from looking at one another before the marriage ceremony. They grasped hands, facing away from each other with eyes closed, while Caleb Earwood asked for God’s blessing over their marriage.

“We were about to take our first steps in life together, and we didn’t want to take a step without it being in God’s will,” Caleb Earwood said in an interview with TODAY. “I prayed to God for my beautiful and intelligent wife that he blessed me with, and the amazing family I was marrying into.”

The moment Maggie grabbed her groom’s hand, she knew exactly what type of marriage she was in for. And her heart was absolutely bursting with joy.

“When I first grabbed his hand, he was shaking really bad, so I knew he was really nervous,” Maggie recalled. “It relieved me to know the person I was getting ready to marry felt the same way about God.”

Maggie couldn’t hold back the tears that welled in her eyes, and neither could the wedding party. “There were no dry eyes in the room,” she expressed.

WOW! So amazing and beautiful!

How often is it in today’s world do you think THIS happens?! Or how often is it that you’ve seen a photo of a couple praying prior to a wedding go viral? I’d say from most observations not too often.

The popular wedding site, ‘The Knot’, seems to explain it best with ‘5 Reasons This Marine’s Wedding Photo Went Viral‘:

1. It was timely:

Think about it: When the photo was taken and released, the entire country was off of work, dedicating their weekend to thanking those who serve and have served in the military.

2. Because it captures an American ideology that we find very familiar.

Whether we want to believe it or not, most of us want to be in loving, satisfying relationship. Having a partner to weather life’s up and downs gives us comfort. And despite America’s relatively high divorce rate (and perhaps in spite of it), we cling to photos like these.

3. Because tradition is still ‘in.’

The widespread positive response to Maggie and Calebs’ photo indicates that a fundamental part of America’s fabric is still alive and well: tradition. For starters, the couple is praying for God to bless their marriage (and Caleb in particular “prayed to God for the amazing family that I was marrying into,” reports Today News.) Careful not to break wedding tradition, the couple are separated by a door frame, so that Caleb wouldn’t see Maggie until they were both standing at the altar. Finally, Caleb is wearing his formal blue marine military uniform, which is pretty much icing on the cake.

4. Because we see ourselves in them.

They’re young and they look like they’re in love and excited to start their marriage together. The idea of starting out on a journey together through marriage is one that hits us at our core (because that’s what we want for ourselves… refer to #1).  And finally,

5. Because you can just tell that they mean it.

I’d say that pretty much sums it up nicely, wouldn’t you? With their faith in the Lord, Caleb and Maggie Earwood should have a wonderful long and happy marriage and life together. We wish them our best! God Bless them both!

We especially want to say ‘Thank you’ to Caleb for serving our country!  God Bless you and protect you and all those who serve with you so that we all may have the freedoms we enjoy in our country! Thank you and God Bless!
