Michelle’s Designer Refuses to Dress Melania, But Melania Gets Hilarious Last Laugh

A fashion guru, who designed for the first lady, Michelle Obama, opened up a giant can of worms the other day when she issued a controversial letter last week. She said she would never dress incoming first lady Melania Trump, and advised: “my fellow designers to do the same.”

However, many are thinking Melania may get the last laugh: She’s hardly in need of another famous designer to fill her closet with outfits.

The designer in question, Sophie Theallet, dated the letter last Thursday.

According to reports, Theallet wrote:
“As one who celebrates and strives for diversity, individual freedom and respect for all lifestyles, I will not participate in dressing or associating in any way with the next first lady,”

“The rhetoric of racism, sexism, and xenophobia unleashed by her husband’s presidential campaign are incompatible with the shared values we live by,” she carried on. “I encourage my fellow designers to do the same.”

“I am well aware it is not wise to get involved in politics,” She stated. “That said, as a family-owned company, our bottom line is not just about money. We value our artistic freedom and always humbly seek to contribute to a more humane, conscious and ethical way to create in this world.”

Many in the fashion industry whole-heartedly disagreed with Theallet’s decision.

“It would be hypocritical to say no to dressing a Trump,” Marcus Wainwright of Rag & Bone, stated to The New York Times. “If we say we are about inclusivity and making American manufacturing great again, then we have to put that before personal political beliefs.”

Celebrity designer Bradley Scott agreed. “First lady is first lady. It’s a position that should be exalted not disrespected,” he told Fox News. “I can’t believe anyone would basically spit at the opportunity. It’s so un-American.”

Of course, the ultimate irony is that Melania Trump hardly needs Theallet. The U.K. Daily Mail reported that Melania has worn designs from Ralph Lauren, Fendi, Gucci, Michael Kors and Dolce & Gabbana during her time on the campaign trail. Those are all famous-enough names, and all seem more than willing to do business with the incoming first lady.

Theallet isn’t the only person who has decided that anything that goes against her personal belief system is racist, sexist, xenophobic or whatever form of bigotry she wishes to name it. She is one of the most visible. However, Theallet’s stand is not only self-important, self-deluding and divisive, it’s also going to hurt nobody but herself. Nice work.

What this designer did was appalling. Sure, she has her freedom to choose who she works for, what she doesn’t have, though, is the ability to choose the consequence of her actions. Which, will invariably be, a GINORMOUS loss in business. What do you think of this designer’s decision? Scroll down to comment below!

I think Theallet is delusional about her level of importance in the big picture of the fashion industry.

Kind of falls in line with the no bake a cake episode that the left had a fit about! At least that was because of religious beliefs.

IF people are going to hold Melania responsible for her husband’s “character”, then WHY haven’t they held killary responsible for Bill’s sexual exploits and his “crimes”?? #hypocrites! Who in their right minds would want to wear that so-called “designer’s” clothing anyway… Micheal always looked as if he shopped @ Walmart… LOL!

mooch has a ‘dresser/designer’?? WHO knew??
She always looks like a dumpster diver!!
Have we forgotten, ‘put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig?’ SAME goes for clothes!
Apologies to 4 legged pigs, everywhere!!

First off, she has no class, her designs are atrocious and she thinks that Melania would ever wear that crap she calls fashion. Second, when did First Lady Melania ask her to get on board with the new administration, Never! She’s saying this because she knew she was getting the boot, this somehow softens the blow of being dumped by one classy lady. 3rdly, guess another lib owed shop is going out of business, without the Whitehouse business, no business.

Why would Melania want to look like a Circus Clown anyway?

I tend to agree with the comments who wonder why it’s okay for her to refuse to dress the first lady based on political beliefs, but it’s not okay for a bakery to refuse to bake a cake for a gay wedding based on their beliefs. The hypocritial and “tolerant” left strikes again.

That’s probably a good thing since Mooch often looks like a bag lady.

I have to say that it is going to be wonderful having a First Lady who is not only a decent human being, but beautiful and classy. What a refreshing change!
