Louisiana Killer Arrested After Murdering Parents And Three Others And Then Going On The Run
Dakota Theriot, 21, led police on a multi-state chase after murdering his parents, his girlfriend and her brother and father in Louisiana this weekend. He was taken into custody after an intense manhunt spanning several states. He was arrested at his grandmother’s home near Richmond, Virginia by deputies. The grandmother had asked deputies to check on the house to see if it was safe to return after spending the night in a hotel. She was scared to death her grandson would show up and he did.
The details of the story are horrific. Theriot had a gun but dropped it wanting to preserve his own hide and then he was arrested without further incident. “He will be transported back to Ascension Parish at a later date and booked on two counts of first-degree murder, home invasion, and illegal use of weapons,” Ascension Parish Sheriff Bobby Webre said. I’m sure there will be a lot more charges than that in the end.
Evidently, Theriot’s 20-year-old girlfriend, Summer Ernest, her brother, Tanner, 17, and her 43-year-old father Billy Ernest were shot to death Saturday morning in Walker, Louisiana which is located about 20 miles east of Baton Rouge. Deputies said they responded to the homicides just before 9 a.m.
Theriot then drove to his parents home and shot them. Keith Theriot, 50, was found mortally wounded but had the strength to tell deputies with his dying breath that the shooter was his son before passing away. “We were able to get a dying declaration from him, and only enough information to let us know that it was his son that committed this act,” Webre told reporters.

The killer’s mother, Elizabeth Theriot, also 50, was found dead in her bedroom. He then fled their trailer in a stolen Dodge Ram pick-up truck that belonged to Billy Ernest. “This is probably I would say one of the worst domestic violence incidents I’ve seen in quite a while,” Webre stated.
Update: SUSPECT IN CUSTODYSheriff Bobby Webre of the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Jason Ard of the…
The police believe the killings were a result of a fight between Theriot and his girlfriend.
From Fox News:
“Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard told reporters late Saturday there were no “red flags” warning of violence. He said Theriot’s only previous run-in with his office was a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
“Ard said Theriot began living with his girlfriend and her parents about two weeks ago.
“Crystal DeYoung, Billy Ernest’s sister, told The Associated Press that she believes Theriot had just started dating Summer.
“My family met him last weekend at a birthday party and didn’t get good vibes from him,” DeYoung said. She said she wasn’t sure how her niece and Theriot met, but that she believed the relationship was relatively new.
“Webre was quoted by the Baton Rouge Advocate Saturday as saying that Theriot’s parents had recently kicked him out due to some disagreements.
“A neighbor Michael Logan said he heard arguing and recent night-time “yelling matches” coming from the Theirot home, according to the paper.
“Deputies reported that inside the Ernest residence at the time of the shooting were two small children, a 1-year-old and a 7-year-old girl. They were not harmed.
“Neighbor Charlenne Bordelon told WAFB that the older girl ran to her house and told her what happened. She said she called 911 right away.”
