The crackdown on illegal immigration continues. The current administration promised that immigration reform would be a focal policy point of their term and they are certainly fulfilling this promise.
The Trump administration is working with Congress and the Senate to create legislation establishing the immigration executive orders, as well as revamping numerous department policies across the board. While liberals have hated the proactive approach that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has taken they will be utterly embarrassed when learning this new information that was released concerning criminal illegal aliens.
It turns out that the crackdown will most benefit the Latino community within the United States because it is the Latino population that is most negatively affected by MS-13 gang violence. These statistics were provided by local and federal law enforcement officials. However, these facts are contrary to the false narrative that liberal commentators, journalists, and politicians have been putting out there.
Margaret Hoover, is a CNN pundit who’s supposedly a Republican, has called the President’s immigration crackdown, nothing more than an appeasement to white nationalists. But these new facts show that is not true at all. The Director of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Thomas Homan, recently said the following in a Fox News interview just last month,
“MS 13 gang members are involved in all sorts of criminal activity whether it’s prostitution, sex trafficking, drugs, firearms and they victimize the very communities they live in. So if the immigrant community is being victimized, they don’t want them in the community either.”
Three months ago the chief of police in Montgomery County, Maryland, J. Thomas Manger, said the following before lawmakers in Washington, D.C.,
“MS-13 preys upon the immigrant community with the worst forms of violence and intimidation. These vicious tactics utilized by the gang have a chilling effect on the [Latino] immigrant community. Join the gang or be beaten, pay an extortion or your family will be targeted, go to the authorities and be killed. The forced silence of the community caused by these violent tactics adds to the gang’s reputation and power. This is what local law enforcement across this country is faced with when confronting MS-13 and why it is so difficult to combat this group and obtain the trust of the most affected communities.”
Law enforcement officials such as Homan and Manger have acknowledged that part of the reason they are able to arrest and prosecute MS-13 gang members is because of cooperation within the Hispanic and Latino community. Considering they are the ones most negatively affected by MS-13 gang violence they are incentivized to do work with police.
Breitbart News reported the following,
“ICE did not dispute that the Trump Administration’s law enforcement efforts against MS-13 will benefit the Latinos in the United States by liberating their communities from the criminal gang. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) declined to comment on whether or not the majority of MS-13 victims are Latino.
Echoing the ICE director, Timothy Sini, the police department commissioner in the Suffolk County part of Long Island, New York—a known MS-13 stronghold—indicated to U.S. lawmakers in May that the majority of MS-13 members and victims in his jurisdiction are likely illegal aliens. Sini also noted that MS-13 members in Suffolk are primarily concentrated in a community where nearly 70 percent of the population identified as Latino or Hispanic in the latest national census.”
A Massachusetts detective for the Chelsea Police Department also confirmed that from his work fighting MS-13 gang members as well as his work on the FBI’s North Shore Gang Task Force that MS-13 violence concentrated primarily on Latinos and Hispanics. Those crimes vary from rape, murder, drug distribution, extortion to burglaries.
Manger from Montgomery County expanded on his experience saying the following,
“In the past, MS-13 was known to extort a “tax” on illicit underground businesses such as “bordellos” or houses of prostitution and unregulated “cantinas” or back room bars that operated out of apartments and houses. However, the police department has received second-hand reports of extortion of legitimate Latino owned businesses and of Hispanic residents living in apartment complexes in certain neighborhoods being extorted “rent” from the gang.
In some instances, if the victims of this extortion initially refuse to pay the fee demanded by the gang, the gang members return with detailed information on the intended victims’ family members still living in Central America where the threat of violence is more tangible, and the perpetrators are out of the reach of U.S. law enforcement.”
Children are susceptible to recruitment while adults are at risk to being exposed to violence from rival gangs and local gangs they refuse to engage with. As the number of MS-13 gang members increase, the less safe we arewalking down our own streets. Reports indicate there are at least 10,000 MS-13 gang members across 46 different states. They exist everywhere from Houston, to Long Island, Charlotte, and Washington, D.C.
It is clear the President has every right and every reason to crack down and ICE is absolutely doing the right thing by deporting criminal illegal aliens. MS-13 gang members pose a real threat and they must be stopped.
