Shut Up and Dribble! That’s what Fox News and national syndicated radio show host Laura Ingraham told LeBron James.
Of course NBA Cleveland basketball player LeBron James thinks of himself as someone who ‘means too much to society’ to do that. Afterall, he is a role model to young kids isn’t he?
LeBron James may be a great basketball player, but he is no Michael Jordan. Even Michael Jordan knew better and kept politics out of sports.
Shut up and dribble.
During an interview with the media this weekend at the Los Angeles Convention Center, LeBron James responded to criticism from conservatives who believe he and other NBA players should “shut up” (regarding politics) by arrogantly proclaiming that he “mean(s) too much to society” to be quiet.
“We will definitely NOT Shut up and Dribble…”
“We will definitely not shut up and dribble. I will definitely not do that. I mean too much to society, I mean too much to the youth, I mean too much to so many kids that feel like they don’t have a way out and they need someone to help lead them out of the situation they’re in,” LeBron James said, as reported by The Washington Post.
While I grant that many impressionable kids look up to LeBron James, the problem is that the guy is a complete idiot who barely knows anything, including basic grammar.
During a news briefing last year, LeBron James trashed those who voted for President Donald Trump during the 2016 election as “uneducated,” though ironically enough, the way he expressed this erroneous belief helped expose his own lack of basic education.
Shut up and Dribble….
LeBron goes on to add,
“At the end of the day, I don’t think a lot of people was educated,” LeBron James specifically said, according to The Daily Wire.
“And I think that’s one of the biggest problems that we have. When it becomes vote time, people are just not educated on either the individual or what’s going on in the state of the world right now.”

FYI, despite being an allegedly “uneducated” supporter of President Donald Trump — one with a college degree, I might add — I know enough to realize that the word “was” should have been a “were.”
Grammar aside, LeBron James has a track record for spouting pure nonsense, including the recent claim that the president does not “give a f*** about the people.”
Shut up and dribble.
Responding to this outrageous and unequivocally false assertion last Thursday, Fox News host Laura Ingraham blasted the NBA star for “ignorant comments” and urged him to “shut up.”
“(I)t’s always unwise to get political advice from someone gets paid $100 million a year to bounce a ball,” she said. “Oh, LeBron (James) and Kevin (Durant), you’re great players, but no one voted for you. Millions elected Trump to be their coach. So, keep the political commentary to yourself, or as someone once said, shut up and dribble.”
I especially like when Laura says, ‘This is what happens when you leave high school early and join NBA.’
Ingraham fired back, saying she was “numb to this commentary” and that “it’s always unwise to seek political advice from someone who gets paid $100 million a year to bounce a ball.” She concluded by saying he should “shut up and dribble.”
LeBron James Responds to ‘Shut Up and Dribble’.
LeBron James responded with a simple Instagram post. James posted a picture that read “I am more than an athlete” and added the caption, “#wewillnotshutupanddribble.”
After all of this, of course the Left erupted. However, if these twits were educated at all, they would know Ingraham was not vile or racist.
Shut up and dribble and Ingraham’s book
As Ingraham noted to IJR:
In 2003, I wrote a New York Times bestseller called ‘Shut Up & Sing,’ in which I criticized celebrities like the Dixie Chicks & Barbra Streisand who were trashing then-President George W. Bush. I have used a variation of that title for more than 15 years to respond to performers who sound off on politics. I’ve told Robert DeNiro to ‘Shut Up & Act,’ Jimmy Kimmel to ‘Shut Up & Make Us Laugh,’ and just this week told the San Antonio Spurs’ Gregg Popovich to ‘Shut up & Coach.’ If pro athletes and entertainers want to freelance as political pundits, then they should not be surprised when they’re called out for insulting politicians. There was no racial intent in my remarks – false, defamatory charges of racism are a transparent attempt to immunize entertainment and sports elites from scrutiny and criticism. Additionally, we stated on my show that these comments came from an ESPN podcast, which was not the case – the content was unaffiliated with ESPN.
Shut up and dribble.
Of course, if LeBron James was more of a reader or even aware of Laura Ingraham’s nationally syndicated radio talk show he might have known this little fact. He may have even known her last name. But I guess that’s too much to ask of someone who gets paid a million dollars to play basketball.
As Ingraham said, LeBron James, you’re a great player, but no one voted for you….and if I might add, you are NO Michael Jordan.
