Rapper Kanye West let David Letterman have it on Netflix and stated that liberals bully Trump supporters when Letterman challenged him on his political views. West appeared in a number of episodes for Letterman’s interview series “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction,” where they sat down for an in-depth discussion on everything from fashion to music and politics. West has been an outspoken supporter of the president, even publicly wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat on “Saturday Night Live” and visiting the Oval Office last year.
West broached the subject of his support for Trump first during a discussion with Letterman over the #MeToo movement. “This is like my thing with Trump — we don’t have to feel the same way, but we have the right to feel what we feel,” he said. Letterman did not like the stance and he made it obvious how he felt.
From Fox News:
“The singer went on to explain that his decision to wear a “Make America Great Again” hat is “not about politics” but rather his way of showing people they shouldn’t be afraid to show their support for the president.
“When speaking about Republican-led voter suppression efforts during the midterm elections, the host also questioned whether West’s support might be indirectly hurting the people he claims to help.
“So if I see a person that I admire talking about Donald Trump can think whatever he does,” Letterman said, “I wonder if those thoughts, indirectly, aren’t hurting people who are already being hurt.”
“West responded by asking if Letterman had ever been beaten up in high school for wearing the wrong hat.
“Liberals bully people who are Trump supporters!” West asserted.
“West has previously said that he is taking a step away from politics, but took to Twitter in January to voice similar views on how supporting Trump is more of an act of rebellion rather than an endorsement of his politics.
“Trump all day,” he tweeted. “One of my favorite of many things about what the Trump hat represents to me is that people can’t tell me what to do because I’m black.”
“He continued: “Blacks are 90% Democrats. That sounds like control to me.”’
this represents good and America becoming whole again. We will no longer outsource to other countries. We build factories here in America and create jobs. We will provide jobs for all who are free from prisons as we abolish the 13th amendment. Message sent with love pic.twitter.com/a15WqI8zgu

West has defended Trump supporters before and he does not hide his personal support for the president. Kanye stated that he wore a “Make America Great Again” hat not in support of the president’s politics, but as an attempt to remove the stigma surrounding support of the president.
“Did you vote for Trump?” Letterman asked.
“I’ve never voted in my life,” West responded.
“Then you don’t have a say in this,” Letterman said.
Like hell, he doesn’t. Who does Letterman think he is?
West made it clear that Trump supporters are not the enemies of America despite what Letterman insinuates. The musician said that Trump supporters are “treated like enemies of America because that’s what they felt.”
The hourlong discussion and four other episodes of the show can be streamed on Netflix beginning May 31. If you can stomach Letterman that is.
