One of the most disgraceful things in our political history, in my opinion, is the way that Justice Clarence Thomas has been treated by those on the left and the media. I never believed Anita Hill’s allegations against him and it should be obvious it was nothing more than a ‘Lucy and the football’ tactic that the left uses to this day. I give you Roy Moore and Justice Brett Kavanaugh. It is beyond me why even intelligent people on the right side of things fall for this ruse over and over and over again. Charlie Brown ain’t got nothin’ on these people.
A new documentary showcases Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas opening up about his confirmation process, criticizing the way people used his race against him and sharing his thoughts about former Vice President Joe Biden. To this day they use his race against him and most of them, especially Joe Biden, do it because of Thomas’ pro-life stance.
“I understood what he was trying to do. I didn’t really appreciate it,” Thomas said of Biden, the former chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Biden, who oversaw Thomas’ confirmation hearings in 1991, had tried to ask Thomas about “natural law” — a thinly veiled attempt to get at his views on abortion, according to the Justice. “Natural law was nothing more than a way of tricking me into talking about abortion,” Thomas said, according to ABC News.
From Fox News:
“His comments came as part of the documentary “Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words.” The film is set to be released in early 2020, nearly 30 years after he assumed his spot on the nation’s highest court.
“Manifold Productions described it as a way to “tell the Clarence Thomas story truly and fully, without cover-ups or distortions.” It reportedly offers Thomas’ reflections on what was perhaps the most contentious Supreme Court confirmation process before Brett Kavanaugh’s.
“In the film, Thomas was apparently put off by Biden’s questioning. According to Time, he indicated the 2020 frontrunner had “no idea” what he was talking about.
“One of the things you do in hearings is you have to sit there and look attentively at people you know have no idea what they’re talking about,” he said, referring to Biden’s questioning.
“He also addressed professor Anita Hill’s accusations of sexual misconduct. “Do I have like stupid written on the back of my shirt? I mean come on. We know what this is all about,” he said.
“People should just tell the truth: ‘This is the wrong black guy; he has to be destroyed.’ Just say it. Then now we’re at least honest with each other.”
“He added that the goal of his opposition was to “get rid” of him and then “undermine” him.
“Thomas, the second African American to serve on the court, also spoke about the treatment he and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson experienced as black conservatives.
“There’s different sets of rules for different people,” he said in a clip released in October. “If you criticize a black person who’s more liberal, you’re a racist whereas if you can do whatever to me — or now, Ben Carson — and that’s fine because you’re not really black because you’re not doing what we expect black people to do.”
“Thomas famously described his confirmation process as a “high-tech lynching,” telling the Judiciary Committee they were participating in a “circus.”
“As a black American, as far as I’m concerned, it is a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks who in any way deign to think for themselves … and it is a message that unless you kowtow to an old order, this is what will happen to you — you will be lynched, destroyed, caricatured by a committee of the U.S. Senate rather than hung from a tree,” he said.”
Arguably, Thomas, 71, is one of the most brilliant men to ever sit on the Supreme Court. In the same mold as the late Justice Scalia, he is an originalist and a true constitutional conservative. This is why the left hates him so — race is just a convenient weapon against him.
Thomas, who is normally averse to pubic appearances and usually quiet during Supreme Court oral arguments, speaks about his life and career in the upcoming film in which he notes that the “biggest impediment” he faced along the way was not the Ku Klux Klan, but the “modern-day liberal.” Which are more or less the same thing any more in numerous ways.
“I felt as though in my life I had been looking at the wrong people as the people who would be problematic toward me. We were told that, ‘Oh, it’s gonna be the bigot in the pickup truck; it’s gonna be the Klansmen; it’s gonna be the rural sheriff,’” Thomas said in the film, set for theatrical release in early 2020.
“But it turned out that through all of that, ultimately the biggest impediment was the modern-day liberal,” he added. “They were the ones who would discount all those things because they have one issue or because they have the power to caricature you.”
More than 22 hours of interviews conducted over six months in 2018 went into making the documentary produced by conservative filmmaker Michael Pack and Manifold Productions. It includes a look at former Vice President Joe Biden who oversaw Thomas’ confirmation process as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Justice Thomas was confirmed in the Senate by a 52–48 vote and said those opposing him cared only about “one thing.” Which is obviously very true. “Most of my opponents on the judiciary committee cared about only one thing,” he said. “How would I rule on abortion rights. You really didn’t matter and your life didn’t matter. What mattered is what they wanted and what they wanted was this particular issue.”
Justice Thomas walks viewers through his upbringing in Savannah, Georgia, with the influence of his grandfather, his Catholic education, and eventually his rise to the Supreme Court in the documentary. He surprises viewers with an account of his youth as a far-left advocate who transformed over the years to what some court watchers would describe as the most conservative justice on the high court.
I look forward to his documentary. The timing of it is very bad for Biden who is not only senile and a gaffe machine on the campaign trail but is embroiled in the Burisma corruption scandal in Ukraine.
Justice Thomas is correct… the biggest danger to all of us, to America herself these days, is the modern-day liberal. I have another name for them… communists.
