Judge Says Jussie Smollett Talks Too Much So He Is UNSEALING The Criminal Case Documents!
“These are not the actions of a person seeking to maintain his privacy or simply to be let alone,”
A Cook County Judge has decided to unseal the Jussie Smollett case files that were sealed when the charges were dropped against the actor in March. Judge Steven Watkins stated that Smollett gave up his right to keep the case sealed when he spoke to the media about the matter. Jussie just couldn’t keep his mouth shut, and has continued to deny any wrongdoing.
Less than two weeks after the former “Empire” actor pleaded not guilty to 16 counts of disorderly conduct for lying to police about a hate crime, The Cook County prosecutor dropped charges in the case. Immediately a CC Judge sealed the records.
Since that time, a legal battle has ensued, with media organizations working to get the documents unsealed, and the Smollett legal team claiming a ‘right to privacy.’
“These are not the actions of a person seeking to maintain his privacy or simply to be let alone,” Judge Watkins said. “While the court appreciates that (Smollett) was in the public eye before the events that precipitated this case, it was not necessary for him to address this so publicly and to such an extent. By doing so, the court cannot credit his privacy interest as good cause to keep the case records sealed.”

It’s unclear when the documents will be available to the public.
Smollett’s publicist, Hilary Rosen, declined to comment on the ruling.
After court, Tribune attorney Natalie Spears, who represented the news media in the case, said the judge’s decision should be applauded.
“This is about transparency and trust in the system, and we believe the public has a right to know what their government did here and why,” Spears said in the lobby of the Leighton Criminal Court Building.
“There is no way to secrete the fact of Jussie Smollett’s arrest. At this point it is widely and publicly known from here to Helsinki and back,” Spears said. “No potential employer, let alone anyone with a pulse, does not know about Jussie Smollett’s arrest at this point.”
Since the moment that we discovered that the CPD had changed their direction and began looking at Smollett as having perpetuated a hoax, the former actor has vehemently denied everything. The moment the 16 counts were dropped, he immediately took to the cameras:
“I would not be my mothers son if I was capable of doing what I was accused of,” Smollett said after prosecutors dropped all the charges. “I’d like nothing more than to just get back to work and move on with my life, but make no mistakes I will always continue to fight for the justice, equality, and betterment of marginalized people everywhere.”
His brother has even claimed that Jussie is having problems sleeping over the incident.
In the mean time, the top rated show that he was a part of, ‘Empire’ has announced one last season before ending forever.
Smollett is still being investigated by the FBI for mail fraud. The Feds are now looking into the prosecutors actions. The brothers are suing Smollett for slander. Jussie Smollett is unemployed. Soon, the whole show will be gone and his co-workers unemployed.
This whole situation could have been averted.
What a mess. I still say, that Jussie Smollett would be much better off if he would grow a pair, and just admit he blew it. Whoever is counseling him is doing him a big disservice. There is enough real evidence, already in the public, to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt as to what happened.
To continue crying his big lie, only makes him look worse. He is heading down a road, that will never end well. If he just ‘fessed up’, time would heal this. America LOVES a good redemption story.
I especially blame his so-called friends, who are allowing him to live the lie. They should be the most ashamed. They are not real friends. Real friends tell you the truth, even when it hurts. To allow him to live this lie, is hurtful to him, not helpful!
