Impeachment Dead On Arrival In Senate If We Can’t Talk To Whistleblower, Graham Says – Implicates Adam Schiff

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) did not hold back this weekend on Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo’s show. President Trump’s public impeachment is unfolding this week televised live and drooled over by leftists galore. It should never have happened but with 197 Republicans and 233 Democrats in the House, who vote in lockstep and take orders from Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), it was a foregone conclusion. It’s disgraceful.

However, convicting Trump is another matter altogether as the Senate would have to vote for it and the majority there is Republican. Democrats and independents add up to just 47 in the chamber, so they’ll need 20 votes from the 53 Republicans to get to the two-thirds majority needed. That will never happen.

According to Graham, things may not even get that far if the whistleblower is not revealed and does not testify at the hearings. “I consider any impeachment in the House that doesn’t allow us to know who the whistleblower is to be invalid because, without the whistleblower complaint, we wouldn’t be talking about any of this,” Graham said on Fox’s “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo. “If they don’t call the whistleblower in the House, this thing is dead on arrival in the Senate,” the South Carolina Republican said. And so it should be.

From The Daily Wire:

“Bartiromo asked Graham about the witnesses that will be called during the coming impeachment inquiry in the House. Democrats will have control over who gets called and can reject witnesses Republicans may seek to bring in to testify.

“You’ve said on the program not too long ago that Hunter Biden needs to answer questions, what is your reaction to this list that your colleagues in the House have prepared as far as those they would like to hear from?” she asked.

“They could care less about getting to the truth, what really did happen, why was the prosecutor fired, the John Solomon FOIA request is stunning, you can see efforts in the State Department where they were worried about the conflict of interest between Hunter Biden and the company being investigated,” Graham said.

“And I also see the need for Hunter Biden to be called to adequately defend the president and if you don’t do those two things it’s a complete joke,” he added.

“Hunter Biden reportedly pulled in about $850,000 as a board member of Burisma Holdings, a Ukraine natural gas company, while his father was vice president. He also hauled in cash from China, where he was part of a $1.5 billion deal with an investment firm with ties to the government in Beijing.

“Joe Biden bragged last year that he had threatened to cut off $1 billion in aid to Ukraine unless officials there fired its top prosecutor, who was probing the activities of Burisma.

“House Democrats, though, say there’s no need to call Hunter.

“Almost everyone who has looked at [the allegations] says there’s nothing there,” said House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD). “This is a smokescreen. This is a distraction to distract from very real evidence of [Trump’s] abuse of power and putting our national security at risk. They want to distract all of us from what this president has done.”

“House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff has moved to exclude the whistleblower, even though their identity has been swirling around in Washington for weeks.

“Graham said that would be a big mistake.

“It’s impossible to bring this case forward in my view fairly without us knowing who the whistleblower is and having a chance to cross-examine them about any advice they may have, if they don’t call the whistleblower in the House, this thing is dead on arrival on the Senate,” he said.”

Graham also predicted that the whistleblower who filed the complaint against President Donald Trump that triggered the impeachment inquiry is from the “deep state” and connected to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA). Whoo boy. He’s absolutely right and this is a hornet’s nest that has long needed kicking:

“Well, if the whistleblower comes from Brennan’s world, it would be stunning, I think. If the whistleblower had a connection to a Democratic candidate, that would be stunning. The only way you can fairly deal with this issue is for us to find out who the whistleblower is. No American can be accused of a crime based on an anonymous allegation. The whistleblower is foundational to what they are doing to the House and the fact that they don’t want to call him tells you everything that you need to know about how valid this effort is to impeach the president.

“What’s going to happen, When you find out who is the whistleblower is, I’m confident you are going to find out it’s somebody from the deep state. You are going to find out they had interactions with Schiff, and this thing’s going to stink to high Heaven. The only reason we don’t know who the whistleblower is that it hurts their cause. They are not trying to find the truth here. If you really wanted to know the truth about why Joe Biden said what he did about the prosecutor..let’s find out. Was Hunter Biden in the crosshairs of the prosecutor?

“This is not about Schiff trying to find the truth. This is about Schiff trying to destroy the Trump presidency.”

Bartiromo pointed out that “many of the players that we talk about when it comes to Ukraine are the same players that dropped those breadcrumbs and tried to spread a narrative about President Trump that was absolutely not true.” She asked Graham why the House GOP wants to investigate Nellie Ohr.

“They’re trying to make a connection between the whistleblower and what happened in 2016. Here’s what they don’t want you to know,” Graham says. “They don’t want you to know that the whistleblower was on the Brennan team, if he was… that he’s tied to the people that falsely got out a warrant against Carter Page four times…that he’s tied to the group that set up a counterintelligence investigation of the Trump campaign in 2016. It would blow them out of the water if, in fact, the whistleblower was connected to a Democratic candidate and came from the CIA world that’s been trying to destroy the Trump presidency since before he got elected. That’s why they don’t want you to know who this person is.”

Following Graham’s statements, President Trump took to Twitter to slam Schiff as a “corrupt politician” (which he is) who only wants “people from the White House to testify in his and Pelosi’s disgraceful Witch Hunt, yet he will not allow a White House lawyer, nor will he allow ANY of our requested witnesses.”

“This is a first in due process and Congressional history!” Trump added.

He followed that tweet up with another that reads: “The call to the Ukrainian President was PERFECT. Read the Transcript! There was NOTHING said that was in any way wrong. Republicans, don’t be led into the fool’s trap of saying it was not perfect but is not impeachable. No, it is much stronger than that. NOTHING WAS DONE WRONG!”

Schiff himself is refusing to testify behind closed doors. He won’t let the whistleblower come forward just as Graham said and this whole thing is going to die in the Senate. What a sham.

Schiff said that his “committee also will not facilitate efforts by President Trump and his allies in Congress to threaten, intimidate and retaliate against the whistleblower who courageously raised the initial alarm.” The whistleblower has nothing to fear from Trump… it’s Schiff and the Democrats who fear exposure here. The whole truth should come out here, not a sanitized version that wrongfully impeaches a sitting president.
