Illegal immigration once again rears it’s ugly head. With all the media coverage of crimes committed by illegal aliens and the problems arising from illegal immigration, the President’s policy stance on the issue feels appropriate now more than ever. People have castigated the President for his temporary immigration ban and his calls to increase the level of vetting on refugees. Border crossings have even diminished since he has taken office.
Which is why this story of an illegal immigrant from Mexico committing a heinous crime won’t shock you and why you’ll be happy to see the President’s response.
Customs officers caught a woman trying to illegally cross the border in southern Arizona. The woman was carrying two of her young children in a baby stroller. But customs agents and a K-9 dog found something startling inside the strollers. After inspecting the carriage they found fentanyl.
Fentanyl is a serious drug and the Drug Enforcement Administration states the following about the controlled synthetic opioid substance,
“50 times more potent than heroin, is extremely dangerous to law enforcement and anyone else who may come into contact with it, skin surface contact with even small amounts of the drug (said to be 50-100 times more potent than morphine) can be fatal.”
DEA Deputy Administrator Jack Riley told the media the following about the drug,
“Fentanyl can kill you, fentanyl is being sold as heroin in virtually every corner of our country. It’s produced clandestinely in Mexico, and (also) comes directly from China. It is 40 to 50 times stronger than street-level heroin. A very small amount ingested, or absorbed through your skin, can kill you.”
Even touching the drug can kill somebody. Which begs the question, why on earth would she put them in a stroller with her two young children? What kind of “Looney Toons” nut would even think about allowing that near someone they love. Law enforcement officers were able to immediately put on protective gear and removed all FIVE pounds of the drug.
Illegal aliens are known to try and smuggle drugs by hiding them in inventive places, but usually people hear of this happening in automobiles. Not in strollers. There is a first time for everything.
Homeland Security agents have confirmed the children were turned over to their grandmother and that the illegal alien was arrested and will be facing criminal charges of attempting to smuggle deadly drugs across the United States border. They should lock her up and throw away the key for endangering her children in such a heinous way.
This is why we need stricter immigration vetting. This type of behavior should not be allowed. Yet it was allowed for so many years under the Obama administration. She clearly had no respect for the lives of her own children. We cannot afford to let drugs and crime permeate our streets any longer. The DEA did the right thing by arresting her. Hopefully she remains there …where she belongs. Where she can no longer harm herself, anybody else, or her children.
