GONE MAD! California Now Wants To OUTLAW Big Gulps and TAX Water!

Only in California would they ban Big Gulps because they think that soda is bad, and then tax the healthy alternative, drinking water, which only hurts the poor!

But it looks like that is what California is about to do!

If new legislation passes, California restaurants and stores would be prohibited from selling “Big Gulp”-style sodas. As well, consumers would face taxes on sugar-sweetened soft drinks.

At the same time, Gov. Gavin Newsom has proposed a tax on drinking water under the guise of helping disadvantaged communities clean up contaminated water systems.

Assemblyman Richard Bloom (D-Santa Monica) says that the “beverage fee” he proposed for the third year in a row would help offset the cost to the healthcare system of sugar-related problems.

GONE MAD! California Now Wants To OUTLAW Big Gulps and TAX Water!

Reagan said it best:

“The nine most terrifying words in the English language are:

‘I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.'”

If redistribution of wealth and healthcare issues don’t convince California, then they will blatantly use scare tactics:

“Big Soda has profited off of life-threatening disease and suffering for too long,” said Assemblyman David Chiu (D-San Francisco), who introduced the bill banning large sodas. “California is taking common sense measures that shed light on the predatory practices of Big Soda and help consumers make healthier choices.”

“The soda industry is the new tobacco industry,” said Chiu.

“We have ignored this crisis for too long,” Bloom said. “We are standing on the edge of a cliff and addressing this health crisis requires a multi-pronged approach like the one you see today.”

Sound familiar? Ocasio-Cortez has been saying the sky is falling with each and every issue she discusses!

Newsom is citing a public health crisis for water as well.

Allegedly, 360,000 Californians rely on water that does not meet state standards for toxins and 6 million Californians have water providers that have violated state standards at some point since 2012.

Let it be noted, that state standards in California are so high, that not meeting them at some point does not necessarily equal danger.

Now I am all for clean safe water! Spend the money to make sure it is! But don’t play with the stats to create scare tactics.

Other proposed bills would ban stores from displaying sugary drinks at checkout areas and prohibit soda manufacturer discount coupons. Lawmakers said the bills also cover sweetened coffee and tea, plus sugary sports drinks.

“What’s next — criminalizing pizzas over 18 inches?” Assembly Republicans asked in a statement.

Of course, all of this legislation would hurt the poor the most in California. It has been the pattern in California and Sacramento does not seem to care at all.

Maybe that is why 53% of California Wants To LEAVE the State in the Near Future!

Of course, California just passed the insane gas tax, which effected the poor the most as well: California Lawmakers Pass 400% Gas Tax Increase; Give Selves Free Gas and Cars.

Is there not wonder that California Was Named The Poverty Capital of United States?

Or that, because of the awful economic conditions, Failing California Ranks #1 ‘Worst Quality Of Life’!

Just pure insanity! Gavin Newsom and the liberals in Sacramento do not care about the poor. The poor are just a talking point they use when it is convenient!
