The ratings for the TV series Empire crashed after it was found that it’s star, Jussie Smollett, had staged a media hoax. The series announced that it will do one last season, and then conclude. Smollett will not be appearing in the final season!

The second episode of “Empire” after the arrest of Smollett, was the lowest rated in the series’ history.

Just two weeks after the series was renewed for a sixth season and Smollett was shown the exit door, it was announced Monday during Fox’s pre-upfront call that Empire will be canceled once Season 6 is done next year.

“We are turning the final season into a large TV event — we are trying to go out guns a-blazing,” Collier said on the call of Empire‘s last season, which will be 20 episodes. “You allow fans to lean in and have the ending they deserve.”

“Empire” showrunner Lee Daniels said in an Instagram video that he and the cast of the show “have experienced pain, anger, sadness and frustration,” in the wake of Smollett’s arrest.

Smollett was charged with 16 felony counts last month after Chicago police came to believe that he orchestrated a hate crime attack against himself in January, paying two Nigerian-American men to pose as racist, homophobic Trump supporters, beat him, put a rope around his neck, and yell “MAGA country!”

The charges were dropped by prosecutors Tuesday, and Smollett will face no punishment as he already performed a whole 18 hours of community service with Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition.

Speculation didn’t end with the dismissal of the charges, and the city of Chicago filed a civil suit against the disgraced actor in April for $130,000, along with attorney and related legal fees. Lawmakers say the money will be used to offset financial losses incurred through several hours of overtime spent investigating Smollett’s case.

The actor has maintained his innocence and says he will not be “intimidated” into “reimbursing the city.”

However, despite Smollett escaping justice from Cook County prosecutors he is still being investigated by the FBI for mail fraud. The Feds are now looking into the prosecutors actions. The brothers are suing Smollett for slander. Jussie Smollett is unemployed. Soon, the whole show will be gone and his co-workers unemployed.

This whole situation could have been averted.

What a mess. I still say, that Jussie Smollett would be much better off if he would grow a pair, and just admit he blew it. Whoever is counseling him is doing him a big disservice. There is enough real evidence, already in the public, to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt as to what happened.

To continue crying his big lie, only makes him look worse. He is heading down a road, that will never end well. If he just ‘fessed up’, time would heal this. America LOVES a good redemption story.

I especially blame his so-called friends, who are allowing him to live the lie. They should be the most ashamed. They are not real friends. Real friends tell you the truth, even when it hurts. To allow him to live this lie, is hurtful to him, not helpful!
