An economic study has just been done on Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal and the price tag is apocalyptic. The proposed deal would take over large portions of the U.S. economy and it would cost more than $94 trillion. That’s more than $650,000 per household per year. It would bankrupt the nation even more than it already is and fast.
Bloomberg is reporting that the Green New Deal would “tally between $51 trillion and $93 trillion over 10-years, concludes American Action Forum, which is run by Douglas Holtz-Eakin, who directed the non-partisan CBO from 2003 to 2005.” The American Action Forum is providing a ‘conservative’ estimate of the costs of providing every resident in the country a federal job with benefits, “adequate” housing, “healthy food,” and healthcare. The Washington Free Beacon states it would cost up to $94.4 trillion.
The jaw-dropping cost of the leftist plan covers a low-carbon electricity grid, net zero emissions transportation system, guaranteed jobs, universal healthcare, guaranteed green housing, and food security. “The Green New Deal is clearly very expensive,” the group noted in its analysis. “Its further expansion of the federal government’s role in some of the most basic decisions of daily life, however, would likely have a more lasting and damaging impact than its enormous price tag.” Hello Venezuela.
The study explains that the “heart of the GND is an effort to curb carbon emissions and thus to slow climate change, but the package contains a wide set of other policy proposals that are not directly linked to climate policy: a job guarantee, food and housing security, and a variety of social justice initiatives.”
Earlier this month, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats told lawmakers that the $20 trillion-plus in existing U.S. national debt represents the greatest threat to U.S. national security. He’s right. And that does not include unfunded liabilities.

The Green New Deal has been a disaster from the very beginning. It became a running joke when part of the plan was revealed that would eliminate cow farts and provide for those who were “unwilling to work.” Cornell University Law School Professor Robert Hockett, an advisor to Ocasio-Cortez, proceeded to lie about those facts and blame Republicans saying they made it up. They didn’t.
Fox News reports:
“Carlson asked Hockett at the outset of the interview: “Why would we ever pay people who are ‘unwilling to work’?”
“In a head-turning moment heard around the Internet, Hockett replied flatly, “Uh, we never would, right? And AOC has never said anything like that, right? I think you’re referring to some sort of document — I think some doctored document that somebody other than us has been circulating. … She’s actually tweeted it out to laugh at it, if you look at her latest tweets. It seems apparently, some Republicans have put it out there. I don’t know the details.”‘
Remember, Ocasio-Cortez and her minions plan to pay for all of this by simply printing money. You know, like Germany and Zimbabwe did.
From The Daily Wire:
“Saikat Chakrabarti, Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff, later admitted that those statements were real and were made in a “frequently asked questions” (FAQ) document that he claimed was “clearly unfinished,” “doesn’t represent the GND [Green New Deal],” and was “published to the website by mistake.”
“Ocasio-Cortez sought to deflect criticism of her plan by falsely promoting a conspiracy theory that the Republican Party was doctoring her Green New Deal and was injecting doctored versions of it into the media because her plan was “so strong.”
“When your #GreenNewDeal legislation is so strong that the GOP has to resort to circulating false versions, but the real one nets 70 House cosponsors on Day 1 and all Dem presidential candidates sign on anyway,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.
“The “false versions” she was referring to were parody versions of the Green New Deal that were posted by major Twitter accounts that are known for promoting parody content. The specific example from the parody document that drew Ocasio-Cortez’s anger was a section that said people should recycle their own urine.”
The Free Beacon is reporting that the American Action Forum calculated that guaranteed green housing would cost between $1.6 trillion and $4.2 trillion; a federal jobs guarantee between $6.8 trillion and $44.6 trillion; a net zero emissions transportation system between $1.3 trillion and $2.7 trillion; a low-carbon electricity grid for $5.4 trillion; and “food security” for $1.5 billion.
“The American Action Forum’s analysis shows that the Green New Deal would bankrupt the nation,” Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY), chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, told the Free Beacon.
“On the upper end, every American household would have to pay $65,000 per year to foot the bill,” he said. “The total price tag would be $93 trillion over 10 years. That is roughly four times the value of all Fortune 500 companies combined. That’s no deal.”
Barrasso’s office estimates it would also skyrocket electric bills by up to $3,800 per year. That would destroy not only the economy but every American household in the nation. The country would collapse and devolve into Venezuelan chaos very, very quickly.
Overall, the study found that the burden to taxpayers would be roughly $361,010 and $653,010 for each American household over 10 years.
Ocasio-Cortez has gone off the deep end saying the world will end in twelve years because of climate change and people should consider not having children because it’s a “scientific consensus” that life will be hard for them in the future. Because after all, we’re doomed unless we pony up.
Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) called the Green New Deal “practical,” during an interview Sunday. She added that “of course we can afford” the plan because climate change is “an existential threat to us.” “It’s not about a cost,” Harris said. “It’s about an investment.” The left is the existential threat to us, trust me.
