Diana Ross Claims She Was ‘Violated’ By TSA Agent In New Orleans Airport

The legendary Diana Ross, 75, had a very unpleasant experience at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport as she breezed into The Big Easy for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Thousands of fans showed up to adore the diva but the TSA agent who frisked her at the airport got way too intimate for Ross’ tastes. It practically brought her to tears before she was whisked off to the Fair Grounds in a long black limousine with a police escort.

Ross sent out a series of early-morning Sunday tweets expressing her outrage over the treatment she received at the hands of Transportation Security Administration officers. “OK so on one hand I’m treated like royalty in New Orleans and at the airport I was treated like s—,” she tweeted just before 6 am Sunday. Why in the world would they frisk a celebrity like Diana Ross? It’s ridiculous.

Ross went on: “Let me be clear, not the people or Delta but TSA was over the top!! Makes me want to cry!!!”

She went on to explain that she felt “violated” by what she described as an overly intimate and aggressive pat-down by a female TSA agent at an airport security checkpoint. “It’s not what was done but how. I am feeling violated – I still feel her hands between my legs, front and back (saying to me it her job). WOW!! Really mixed emotions. I always like to see the good things but not feeling good right now.”

Ross felt better later and sent out a tweet on it: “Im feeling better , it took a minute.”

From The New Orleans Advocate:

“Ross apparently flew out of New Orleans via Delta early Sunday morning.

“Erin Burns, director of communications of the New Orleans Aviation Board, directed an inquiry about the incident to the TSA.

“Mark Howell, a TSA spokesperson, released a statement saying, “TSA is committed to ensuring all travelers are treated with respect and courtesy. TSA is aware of concerns presented by Diana Ross about her screening experience at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport this morning.”

“An initial review of closed-circuit television footage of the incident, the statement said, “indicates that the officers involved with Ms. Ross’s screening correctly followed all protocols, however, TSA leadership will continue to investigate the matter further. We encourage Ms. Ross to reach out to TSA so we can work with her directly to address her concerns.”

“At Jazz Fest, Ross showcased songs from throughout her half-century career. She changed her wardrobe several times during the show, cycling through a variety of gowns, shoes, and coats.

“She enjoyed her Jazz Fest experience, if not her airport experience. At 10:33 p.m. Saturday, three-and-a-half hours after her show concluded, she tweeted, “I love New Orleans it was an incredible night at the jazz fest.”‘

This isn’t the first airport security confrontation for Ross. In 1999, she was arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport after allegedly assaulting a female security officer who tried to body-search her. Ross accused the security officer of touching her breast during the check. She responded by touching the security officer’s breast, asking, “How do you like it?” I’m not sure I blame her on that count. Just sayin’.

Ross tweeted several hours later that she was feeling better. Ross is not alone in this by any means. Many feel violated by TSA pat-downs but you would think with Ross’ security detail etc. and fame that the TSA would know better than to create a PR nightmare like this with a celebrity like Diana Ross. Not smart.
