Democrats In Chaos: Angry Pelosi RIPS Ocasio-Cortez, Her Posse in Congress is Only ‘like five people’
As the civil war within the Democrat party continues, Nancy Pelosi seems to be getting bolder as she tries to stop the party from becoming ‘the socialist party.” Pelosi was asked about this new ‘progressive wing of the party . In a “60 Minutes” interview. Lesley Stahl pointed out, “You have these wings — AOC and her group on one side,”
“That’s like five people,” Pelosi angrily interrupted.
Stahl corrected Pelosi, saying that the “progressive group is more than five.”
“Well, I’m progressive — I’m a progressive, yeah,” Pelosi snarked back.
In reality, the Congressional Progressive Caucus has 98 members and it is the second largest group of Democrats in the Congress.
But Ocasio-Cortez is definitely within a group of her own, and in Congress, she has good support, but within the Democrat voter pool, she has plenty enough to create chaos for Speaker Pelosi.
There are actually seven Democratic House members, including Ocasio-Cortez, are supported by the progressive political action committee the Justice Democrats, that is pushing for the total socialist takeover of the Democrat party.
This is not the first time that Pelosi has downplayed the civil war going on in the party, and at the same time, trying to combat Ocasio-Cortez’s star power.
In a recent interview, the House speaker pointed out that votes are more significant than Twitter followers — a remark that was also interpreted to be a dig at AOC.
“While there are people who have a large number of Twitter followers, what’s important is that we have a large number of votes on the floor of the House,” Pelosi said.
But Pelosi cannot hide the fact that there is a huge fight going on behind the scenes between the Socialist and Moderate factions within the Democrat party.
I recently had a long phone call with a longtime friend who is involved heavily with the local liberal grassroots movement as well as campaigns and staffing at the national level. We discussed the civil war within her party.
“Unfortunately, you would be doing the happy dance if you really knew how bad it was!” she laughed at me. “The leadership is split, the activists are split, and the voters are split! The hard feelings are really beginning to erupt.”
The leadership is “at a quandary”, she told me. “The ‘socialist’ wing has taken over the younger vote and the leadership and moderates know that it is toxic. They cannot seem to get the far-left to control what they say! Every meeting I have attended for 6 weeks has ended with tension.”
But as our conversation ended, we discussed that we both knew she was not telling me anything that I could not already assume. It has been clear for some years now that this war was brewing!
10 years ago, any occasional mention of socialism was immersed in “Democratic Socialism”.
Today, the far left wing of the Democratic party is not afraid to utter the words, “Full government control!”
I imagine that as Ocasio-Cortez, Omar, and the rest of the socialists continue to speak their mind, Pelosi and Schumer are going to have to get drastic. They know that it is a losing proposition.
Keep the popcorn going!
