The Democrats have been in an internal civil war all year and it escalated this week in a secret closed door meeting concerning impeachment. A handful of Democrat House members have been calling for impeachment, long before the Mueller Report was completed. Nancy Pelosi has consistently stated that it would not be beneficial to the Democrats.
There are three schools of thought within the Democrat party. Impeach, just because. Those who truly believe that Trump obstructed justice and colluded with a foreign nation. Then those who remember the backlash from the Clinton impeachment and the disastrous results it had on the Republicans on the following election.
Nancy Pelosi has consistently been in the third group, and has constantly tried to push impeachment talk off the table. Mad Maxine Waters has consistently been a part of the first group, calling for impeachment even before the President moved into the White House, and never giving any concrete reason.
House Democratic leaders sparred internally on Monday over whether to begin an impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump, with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her allies rejecting the call to move forward for now, according to multiple sources.
Reps. David Cicilline of Rhode Island, Jamie Raskin of Maryland and Joe Neguse of Colorado — all members of Democratic leadership — pushed to begin impeachment proceedings during a leadership meeting in Pelosi’s office, said the sources. Pelosi and Reps. Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut, Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico, Hakeem Jeffries of New York and Cheri Bustos of Illinois — some of her key allies — rejected their calls, saying Democrats’ message is being drowned out by the fight over possibly impeaching Trump.
Raskin — a former law professor — said he wasn’t advocating impeaching Trump but suggested that opening an impeachment inquiry would strengthen their legal position while allowing Democrats to move forward with their legislative agenda.

Pelosi dismissed this argument, asking Raskin whether he wanted to shut down the other five committees working on Trump investigations in favor of the Judiciary Committee.
“You want to tell Elijah Cummings to go home?” Pelosi quipped, referring to the chairman of the Oversight and Reform Committee.
And in a Democratic Steering and Policy Committee meeting, Rep. Steve Cohen of Tennessee stood up and demanded Trump’s impeachment. Pelosi then countered, “This is not about politics, it’s about what’s best for the American people,” said a member who attended the meeting.
There has been a significant civil war brewing within the Democrat party since the last election. With the introduction of some very vocal self-described socialists such as Ocasio-Cortez, the far left ideology that the Democrats have worked hard to keep out of the public discourse, has become main stream.
But many Democrats understand that this does not win big elections.
I have personal word, from a well trusted liberal source, that the chaos we are seeing among the Democrats at this time is much worse that what we see.
Nancy Pelosi is stuck between a severe rock and a hard place and really does not know what to do to get out of it!
I had an extensive phone call earlier this year with a longtime friend who is involved heavily with the local liberal grassroots movement as well as campaigns and staffing at the national level.
“Unfortunately, you would be doing the happy dance if you really knew how bad it was!” she laughed at me. “The leadership is split, the activists are split, and the voters are split! The hard feelings are really beginning to erupt.”
Nancy Pelosi has lost control of her caucus. She had a number that sided with Trump on building the wall, and she has a number who have gone full blown socialist. She has some who will not stop until impeachment proceedings begin, and some who firmly believe that is a very dangerous rabbit hole.
Pelosi is stuck in the middle.
