Congress Passes $1.3 Trillion Omnibus Spending Bill. Conservatives Livid!

The House passed a 2,322 page, $1.3 TRILLION omnibus spending bill on Thursday. WTH? Didn’t they just get the bill late Wednesday? How many of these Representatives could have ACTUALLY read this ENTIRE bill in that short time?  Come on people! Are they speed readers or are they just pulling a Nancy Pelosi (“We have to pass the bill….so that you can find out what is in it…”) on it?

You can bet a major backroom deal was struck with the Democrat and GOP Congressional leaders on this $1.3 TRILLION omnibus spending bill. You can also bet this omnibus bill contains a lot of liberal policies that the GOP promised to stop including failing to fund Trump’s border wall, unless of course, you count about 30 miles of a border wall…funding.

House Freedom Caucus member Rep. Jim Jordan criticized the deal, while Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) called it “good progress”.

From CNBC:

The House passed the massive $1.3 trillion spending bill Thursday, sending it to the Senate with just over a day to spare before the government would shut down for the third time this year.

The chamber approved the more than 2,322 page legislation — released only Wednesday night — by a 256-167 vote with bipartisan backing.

The legislation would fund the government through the end of September. It would significantly boost military spending and increase funding for border security, infrastructure and efforts to fight the opioid epidemic, among other programs. It also includes measures meant to strengthen gun sale background checks and improve school safety.

But conservatives are NOT happy with the House and the GOP leaders.

There’s no way that anyone could have read it fully because they got the final 2,322 copy the day before the vote.

The legislation now goes to the GOP-controlled Senate, where it is expected to pass with bipartisan support. The chamber can also expedite a vote with approval from all senators present, but if any senators object, Senate rules could delay a vote until Friday or later.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said both he and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., hope the chamber can vote on Thursday. He said he believes no Democrats will push to delay the vote.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., carried the Senate past a shutdown deadline last month as he objected to the budget deal that set up the massive spending increases contained in this week’s bill. Paul could delay a vote again.

Why is Rand Paul one of the only ones who actually cares about reading a bill BEFORE a vote?

Unfortunately Sen. Rand Paul is right about that!

Other conservatives lashed out too! Including David Bozell, President of ForAmerica, a national grassroots conservative organization.

“This is why guys like Rick Saccone lose. The expectations for Republicans to maintain control ought to be very low. Republicans want to run on this platform of tax cuts and ‘my name is not Nancy (Pelosi),’” Bozell told TheDCNF.

“How much currency does the ‘we aren’t Pelosi’ have anymore? This is not 2012. These are base races. You have to have your base energized for you, and giving Democrats everything they want is going to keep base voters at home.”

“There is nothing preventing Republicans from being on offense on all of the key issues, like immigration, Obamacare, Planned Parenthood — all of them,” Bozell told TheDCNF.

“You are talking about trillions of dollars that our representatives are spending under the cover of darkness. Their number one responsibility is to be stewards of taxpayer dollars.”

Even President Donald Trump had issues with it. Late Wednesday, he indicated he might be changing his mind on it even though OMB Mick Mulvaney indicated that Trump would support it.

President Donald Trump entered Wednesday hesitant to support the plan. Trump had concerns over such issues as the amount of money set aside for his proposed border wall, the lack of a sanctuary cities provision, and whether funding would go toward a rail tunnel connecting New Jersey and New York that he opposed.

Trump reportedly threatened to veto the bill if it put money toward the tunnel, which is part of the Gateway plan to revitalize rail transportation. The bill did not directly put money toward the project.

No worries though folks. It seems Sen. Chuck Schumer was ecstatic about the bill. Why wouldn’t he be, his little pork projects are funded in the bill. Right Chuckie?

Oh, and if you are thinking the Senate will hold out on the bill, think again.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan are selling the bill to their colleagues as a win because they were able to get more money for defense, for the construction of small portions of the president’s border wall and to combat the opioid crisis.

So not much money for funding the wall about $1.5 billion out of about what $25 billion or so? The omnibus bill STILL funds Planned Parenthood, so we still have taxpayer funded abortions. The omnibus bill doesn’t deal with sanctuary cities and doesn’t even reverse DACA. So there you have it.

145 Republicans, if you want to call them that, voted FOR it!

So much for the GOP platform? Do these Representatives even KNOW the GOP platform any more? If they did and they supported the platform, WHY in H#$$ would they vote for this ABSURD $1.3 TRILLION omnibus spending bill with ALL these pork projects in it?

In Illinois, 6 out of 7 so-called Republicans voted FOR the omnibus spending bill. Those so-called Republicans were: Roskam, Bost, Davis, Hultgren, Shimkus, and Kinzinger. In Florida, 8 out of 16 so-called Republicans voted FOR the bill: Dunn, Rutherford, Bilirakis, Ross, Buchanan, T. Rooney, F. Rooney, and Diaz-Balart. Thanks guys! Really appreciate that! NOT!

Oh….but don’t worry, in case you were wondering, those lazy liberals with their butts in the seats at the JFK Centerfor Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., they are getting over $40 million in subsidies.
