CIA director Nominee Gina Haspel Puts the Smackdown on Senator Feinstein For Using Fake Reports

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) questioned CIA director nominee Gina Haspel using inaccurate information that has since been corrected by the original author. How embarrassing for her. How empowering for Gina.

The passage in question was written by former CIA lawyer John Rizzo in the book Company Man and reports citing his book claimed Haspel ran an interrogation program at a CIA site where al Qaeda suspect Abu Zubaydah was interrogated, but Rizzo has corrected that claim. Feinstein asked her question after saying she likes Haspel “personally very much” and Haspel took the opportunity to correct the senator regarding Rizzo’s writing.

“Senator, I am so pleased you asked me that question,” Haspel said before saying she did not run the program and noting Rizzo corrected the record. “If you have your staff check, Mr. Rizzo has issued a correction,” she said. Feinstein refused to be corrected, sneering back, “my understanding is that you recently confirmed it was you.” “No,” Haspel repeated. “He issued a correction… The Washington Post last night — Erik Wemple, I believe — wrote a story talking about the failure of certain organizations to correct their facts and that was one of them. And he noted that Mr. Rizzo, about ten days ago, he was wrong, he didn’t fact check, and that has been corrected.”

After reporting on Haspel’s alleged connection to the CIA black site in 2017, ProPublica corrected its story on the matter in March. The New York Times corrected a similar story. Feinstein evidently did not get the memo and was not aware of the correction. She proceeded to read the since-corrected passage from Company Man.

“Senator, I did not run the interrogation department,” Haspel shot back. “In fact, I was not even read into the interrogation program until it had been up and running for a year.” Gina was the epitome of class and there is no one more qualified person out there to run the CIA. She has over 33 years of experience, having worked her way up from being an operative.

Feinstein had more questions on the matter of interrogation tapes that were destroyed. Haspel said she did not watch the tapes and supported destroying them because they included the faces of CIA officers. That’s the truth of the matter and it was the right thing to do. The left and John McCain hate Gina because they accuse her of overseeing torture . She has stated that she would not employ those tactics. Haspel sighed as Feinstein still insisted on reading the quote from Rizzo’s book and got more frustrated throughout their exchange. Who could blame her?

George Soros-funded ProPublica published a piece headlined “Correction: Trump’s Pick to Head CIA Did Not Oversee Waterboarding of Abu Zubaydah,” in which the outlet said it was “clear that Haspel did not take charge of the base until after the interrogation of Zubaydah ended.” Rizzo corrected the record and made it clear that Gina was not in charge of the interrogation program. “I never intended to suggest in my book that Gina Haspell[sic] was in charge of CIA’s interrogation program. She was not. I have nothing further to say on this subject other than to stress that I fully support her nomination to be CIA Director,” Rizzo said.

84 year-old Feinstein was roundly humiliated by this fact-check. She cited reports that have been debunked for months. Gina is the kind of strong women we need in leadership. It figures those such as Feinstein would collectively mess their pants over someone who stood up to actual terrorists. Pathetic.

Steven Crowder put it perfectly, “Kudos to Feinstein for doubling down on her talking points. Can’t say the woman isn’t committed to the script. Triple kudos to Hapsel for not calling Senator Feinstein a dribbling drool monkey in front of the nation. That’s class right there.” Lol. Perhaps Feinstein should get her biased facts straight before trying to interrogate someone far smarter than she is.

Feinstein said that she will vote against CIA Deputy Director Gina Haspel as leader of the spy agency. No surprise there. “This nomination is bigger than one person. The torture program was illegal at the time based on international treaties. …I believe those who were intimately involved should not lead the agency,” Feinstein said in a statement. Still lying and still doubling down. She added that the “CIA’s Rendition, Detention and Interrogation Program is one of the darkest chapters in our nation’s history and it must not be repeated.” “For the Senate to confirm someone so involved with the program to highest position at the CIA would in effect tell the world that we approve of what happened, and I absolutely do not,” she said.

Gina Haspel should be confirmed and probably will be. No tears should be spilled for our enemies and those interrogated. Grow a set for God’s sake and get Feinstein a bib and some pull-ups.
