If you believed everything you read in the media about the recent executive order that temporarily bans refugees from certain countries you would think we were banning Muslims from every country in the world. But that is not the case. Iraq and Syria are two of the countries on the seven country list that will be under a temporary ban. Now, deceased Navy SEAL Chris Kyles former Iraqi interpreter is speaking out in defense of President Trumps executive order.
Johnny Walker is Kyles former interpreter who he worked with closely while serving in the military overseas in Iraq. Walker said the following about Trumps executive order,
“I agree 100% with President Trump’s decision. The national security of the United States is a paramount issue. All President Trump is doing is ensuring that people can go about their day without living in so much fear. Women won’t have to worry about walking around the mall; kids won’t have to worry about going to the school. Look, these countries don’t have a database that keeps track of its citizens. And we can’t depend on a government database in countries that do, because if they have one it has a political agenda behind it. It wouldn’t be hard for someone to get into the U.S. whose loyalty lies with ISIS or a militia aligned with Iran. While the militia isn’t necessarily our enemy right now, they don’t have loyalty to the U.S., they are loyal to the interests of the government that funds them. And that government says “Death to America. ISIS’s strongholds are in Iraq and Syria. We all know what they want to do to Americans.”
Walker emphasized that foreigners who worked for the American military as interpreters, linguists, and soldiers should not be included in this ban. As they not only gave their loyalty to the United States but because their lives are in danger from groups like ISIS who deem them traitors and put bounties on their heads. He explained that he is an example. His brothers were murdered because he worked for the American military. He said,
“I was one of those translators. I worked with Navy SEALs to help kill the enemy. Working with the American military, made my family and me a target. Al-Qaeda murdered my brother because of me helping the Americans.”

The former interpreter described how it was completely reasonable to deem the countries listed as hotbeds of terrorism. Maintaining that Iraq is funded by Iran who is the number one sponsor of terrorism, Al Shabaab is alive and well in Somalia and Libya is a haven for ISIS.
