Campaign Finance Investigation Claiming Ilhan Omar ‘Repeatedly Trampled on the Laws of the State’ Completed According to Report
Omar may have married her brother Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in order to aid Elmi in obtaining citizenship.Findings of an investigation into illicit campaign funds spending by Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn. as a state lawmaker in Minnesota, have completed and authorities there preparing to issue rulings in a pair of complaints the controversial freshman House Democrat faces. Complaints filed last year, while Omar cruised to election to the House of Representatives, claims Omar improperly spent campaign funds for personal use, including payments to her divorce attorney.
Salacious details on her bizarre marriages – one to her own brother, possibly – are below:

Reports on her divorce status again surfaced and have tainted Omar’s personal history with a possible illegal marriage in an attempt to cheat the immigration system. Questions surrounding Omar’s marriages in August 2016 were first reported and found Omar may have engaged in marriage fraud, as she may have married her brother Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in order to aid Elmi in obtaining citizenship. Yes, you read that correctly. Her brother. Then it gets weird:
Elmi’s name follows the Somali custom of being named after his father, which is the same name as her father. While being legally married to Elmi, Omar has publicly identified Ahmed Hirsi as her cultural husband and father of her children. Yikes!
Alpha News Reports that Omar dismissed the claims that she married her brother, maintaining the marriage was simply a difficult time in her private life. In August 2016 Omar released a statement saying, “I have yet to legally divorce Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, but am in the process of doing so.” Several months later, Omar filed for divorce from Elmi in May of 2017, and research indicates he now resides in London.
The controversy continues in the statements Omar made in the divorce documents. Omar tells the court that Elmi left the country in 2011 to go back to London. This corresponds with her statements that she and Elmi terminated their relationship so she could resume her relationship with Hirsi. She also claims in court documents that she hasn’t spoken or seen her estranged husband since June 2011. However, Alpha News obtained documentation via social media that shows these statements to be false.
According to social media posts, the timeline of contact between Omar and Elmi extended multiple years beyond 2011. Screenshots from social media indicate Elmi lived in Minneapolis until August 2012, when he moved back to London. Alpha News also reported that Elmi and Omar attended NDSU at the same time.
Instagram posts show Omar and Elmi communicating via social media until October 2013. Adding to the belief that Elmi is indeed Omar’s brother, the social media postsinclude comments in which Elmi refers to Omar’s two girls as his nieces, and Omar says he is the “best uncle.”
Double Yikes! If Omar did indeed marry her brother for immigration purposes, and did it while she was married to another man, she broke the law in Minnesota and it appears Omar committed perjury by lying in the divorce documents about her last known contact with Elmi.
Although she has so far skated on any of these charges, WJLA: is reporting:
In referring Omar to the Minnesota Campaign Finance Board, Drazkowski alleged that Omar improperly spent close to $6,000 in campaign funds for personal use, including payments to her divorce attorney and for travel to Boston and Estonia. Drazkowski’s filing of the two complaints followed an earlier episode in which Omar repaid $2,500 for honoraria she received for speeches at colleges that receive state funding, a violation of ethics rules for Minnesota lawmakers.
“I had observed a long pattern,” Drazkowski told Sinclair in an interview from his office in southeastern Minnesota. “Representative Omar hasn’t followed the law. She’s repeatedly trampled on the laws of the state in a variety of areas, and gotten by with it.”
Republican State Rep. Drazkowski complained that Omar uses her gender, religious beliefs and ethnicity, a Muslim woman from Somalia, as a shield against critics. “There’s a political fear that people have,” Drazkowski said, “of being called a name, being called a bigot, being called racist, being called Islamophobic.”
Omar gives reporters the same kind of pat answer when asked if she married her own brother, accusing any critics of being “bigots” and “Islamophobes.”
