Insane fruitcakes, David and Louise Turpin, the California ‘House of Horrors’ parents who held their 12 children captive inside their home, were sentenced Friday to life in prisonThe couple had beaten and starved them, as well as keeping them chained up. Now they are going to enjoy the pleasures of being held captive in chains!

The Tarpins were sentenced to life in prison Friday with the possibility of parole after 25 years.

They had pleaded guilty back in February to 14 counts each of torture, child endangerment, false imprisonment, and dependent adult abuse.

The case that became known as the “House of horrors” shocked the country back in January 2018. Their 17-year-old daughter escaped by jumping out a window from the filthy home.

The girl didn’t know what month it was or what the word medication meant, but knew enough to punch the digits 911 into a barely workable cellphone and then began describing years of abuse to a police dispatcher.

Some of the children of the couple spoke in a packed courtroom ahead of their parents’ sentencing.

“Sometimes, I still have nightmares of things that have happened, like my siblings getting chained up or beaten,” said one of the sons in an impact statement.

Another child, identified as Jane Doe No. 4, also read a statement ahead of the sentencing. Of the living conditions.

She said, “Life may have been bad, but it made me strong. My parents took my whole life from me but now I’m taking my whole life back.” She also stated that she is in college now and doing well.

“I am a fighter, I’m strong and I’m shooting through life like a rocket ,” she continued.

Some of the ‘House of Horrors’ children, who were not filmed, described still struggling with moving on from the plight, but expressed joy at being able to live new lives and attend school.

Another sibling said he learned how to ride a bike in June.

“Since then, I’ve been hooked.”

He described going to college and studying to be a software engineer, and said he hopes to earn his master’s degree. He also said that he had forgiven his parents for “a lot of the things that they did to us,”

He claims that he still struggles emotionally.

“I cannot describe in words what we went through growing up,” he said, crying. “Sometimes, I still have nightmares of things that had happened to us, such as my siblings being chained up or getting beaten. But that is the past, and this is now.”

Judge Bernard Schwartz called the couple’s actions “selfish, cruel, and inhumane.”

“The only reason your punishment is less than the maximum, in my opinion, is because you accepted responsibility at an early stage of the proceedings and spared the children from having to relive the humiliation and harm they endured in that house of horrors,” Schwartz said.

The ‘House of Horrors’ abuse and neglect was so severe it stunted growth, led to muscle wasting and left two girls unable to bear children. It also led to emotionally stunted growth. These kids, now adults, have to learn now how to be adults!

The key word?

Selfish!

These are narcissists! It was all about them and none of it was about the kids. The reason that they had children in the first place was to feed their narcissism and provide themselves with a selfish feeling of control! They used that control to try to elevate own low self esteem.

Parents are supposed to raise their children, with the intent purpose of preparing them to be adults, that can survive life, standing on their own two feet. They are supposed to be preparing them to succeed in life!

I have known a number of parents in my lifetime who have taken the opposite approach. They felt the selfish need to be important, in control. They wanted their children to be dependent because it fed their own importance. They really did not want their kids to leave. If the kids became independent and left, they lose control.

Sometimes abuse was involved, and sometimes not, but the basic ‘House of Horrors’ mentality was the same.

That does not mean they did not love them, only that their love for self was much bigger. Any good parent understands that that is insane!

It is abhorrent. The Turpin’s real issue was control. That control began to wane as the children began to be independent. So they beat them, chained them and starved them. They forced them into submission to retain their control!

They made sure that they would never leave.

They were weak and despicable people who only cared about their own feelings and emotions. They did not care about these kids…at all. They only cared about themselves. They did not care about the physical and emotional abuse they heaped on these kids. They did not care…that they hurt them… seriously!

Sickening. There’s a special place in hell for these types of people. These two, are going to get almost everything they dished out, in prison for the rest of their lives.
