I Just Spent A Week In California, The Catastrophe Is MUCH Worse Than What You Have Heard!

Living in California has become the worst state in the union for overall quality of life. Unless you are very rich or homeless.

I just flew to California from my home state of Texas for a week long vacation, and I was shocked at what I found. It has been three years since I went to back the state I was born and raised in, and I have watched it decline over the years. I knew California had incredibly high real estate, insurance, and that gas was through the roof, but what else I found astounded even me.

GROCERIES! Those people in southern California are paying anywhere from twice to three times the prices of what I spend here in Texas. I was shocked to pay almost $3 for a can of cranberries.

I almost had fits when I saw, on sale, a small package of bottled water for $6.50! In fact, I went into a tirade with my friend, right in the store, about the prices of goods in California after seeing that one! I never pay more than $2.50, and that is high. Most of the time, for me, the equivalent on sale is $2.00.

I went to a number of places, from regular grocery stores, to discount places. It amazed me.

Remember when they told us Avocados would skyrocket? I am paying $0.64 each here. Yes, they actually ARE $1.00 a piece, and more in California!

Of course, much of those prices are inflated because of all the other items that are expensive. Overhead in the real estate, and as well, the gas prices, are definitely a big part of the equation.

The other item I noticed was the prices of meals in restaurants. Outrageous! Again, almost always double and more, no matter where we went. I paid $14-18 a meal, and more, for what would be the equivalent of $8-12 here in Texas. I guess the biggest shocker was that Mrs. Knott’s Fried Chicken Dinners were at $25. Now that is some good chicken, but not THAT good!

Now, I am very familiar with California. I was born and raised there. I lived there most of my life. I moved to Texas, among other reasons, for financial purposes. I did so almost 6 years ago. I expect when I go back for it to be expensive.

But this time was a shock, for even me. I don’t know how people can live there, and really understand why so many are leaving now, than ever before. I spoke to a number of people who are definitely planning on leaving the state. Last year, a poll showed that half of all California residents are considering moving top another state in the near future. The state has almost reached the tipping point where there are more people moving out than moving in.

What is really sad is that the state has done this to itself. The policies coming out of Sacramento have created this mess.

Living in California has become the worst state in the union for overall quality of life. Unless you are very rich or homeless.

At least that’s what U.S. News & World Report’s most-recent Best States rankings say. The Golden State ranked 50th in quality of life by fairing poorly in the natural and social environment categories.

Red Skelton said so eloquently in his commentary on the Pledge of Allegiance:

To the Republic — A Republic: a sovereign state in which power is invested into the representatives chosen by the people to govern; and the government is the people; and it’s from the people to the leaders, not from the leaders to the people.

California has it backwards, they are running with the method of “from the leaders to the people”

That is why I joined the 5 Million people who have fled California within the last decade.

You can take me out of Texas in a pine box, and even then I will be kicking and screaming!
