Former Rep. Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke (D-TX) has just kicked off his 2020 presidential campaign in El Paso, Texas with his first formal stump speech. His primary assertion is that immigrants and asylum seekers make the border town safer – it must be opposites day. Either there are a bunch of brain-dead millennials in El Paso or people were bused in for this event. They roared for the socialist policies of the left’s new JFK-wannabe. He sounds just like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders.
O’Rourke also spoke at Texas Southern University in Houston on Saturday. More than 1,000 of the faithful showed up to listen to this guy in El Paso. He made it clear that his immigration policies were the exact opposite of President Trump’s. He extolled the virtues of increased immigration and diversity as a unifying force.
“With Ciudad Juarez we form the largest binational community in this hemisphere. And for 20 years running, we’ve been one of the safest cities in the United States of America,” the El Paso native declared. “We are safe not despite the fact that we are a city of immigrants and asylum seekers. We are safe because we are a city of immigrants and asylum seekers.”
“We have learned not to fear our differences, but to respect and embrace them. We see the languages spoken in this community, the traditions, the cultures, as a strength for El Paso,” he added. What he leaves out is that the police and ICE enforce the law there and that is why they are safe… not because of illegal aliens and planted asylum seekers but in spite of them.
Mexico must use its very strong immigration laws to stop the many thousands of people trying to get into the USA. Our detention areas are maxed out & we will take no more illegals. Next step is to close the Border! This will also help us with stopping the Drug flow from Mexico!

“O’Rourke’s remarks follow a threat by President Trump to shut down the Southern border, citing repeated failures by the Mexican government to assist the administration in preventing further South American caravans reaching the United States. The president also blasted Democrats for advocating “weak” immigration laws.
“The DEMOCRATS have given us the weakest immigration laws anywhere in the World. Mexico has the strongest, & they make more than $100 Billion a year on the U.S. Therefore, CONGRESS MUST CHANGE OUR WEAK IMMIGRATION LAWS NOW, & Mexico must stop illegals from entering the U.S,” the president wrote on Twitter Friday morning.
“He continued: “Mexico has for many years made a fortune off of the U.S., far greater than Border Costs. If Mexico doesn’t immediately stop ALL illegal immigration coming into the United States [through] our Southern Border, I will be CLOSING the Border, or large sections of the Border, next week.”
O’Rourke also criticized President Trump over family separations at the border and vowed to kill the policy if elected president.
“Let us reunite every single one of those families that are still separated today,” O’Rourke said. “And let’s remember that every single one of us, including those who are just three or four blocks from here detained under the international bridge that connects us with Mexico behind the chain-linked fence and barbed wire, that they are fellow human beings and deserved to be treated like our fellow human beings.”
“We will find security not through walls, not through militarization, we will find security by focusing on our ports of entry,” he went on. “If we are really serious about security, we have a golden opportunity, Republicans, Independents, Democrats alike to work on comprehensive immigration reform, to rewrite this country’s immigration laws in our own image with our own values and in the best traditions of the United States of America.”
“O’Rourke delivered the speech at South El Paso Street, which is connected to Mexico by an international bridge.”
O’Rourke also spoke on Dreamers: “If we truly believe we are a country of immigrants and asylum seekers and refugees, the very premise of our strength, success and our security, let us free every single Dreamer from any fear of deportation,” he said, referring to illegal immigrants who entered the country as children.
You remember O’Rourke. He’s the one who could not beat Ted Cruz for his Senate seat in Texas. He brought in millions of dollars and bused a ton of people from outside of Texas to beat Cruz and still failed. But he was truly ramping it up for his 2020 campaign in El Paso: “This is our moment of truth, and we cannot be found wanting,” he told the crowd. “The challenges before us are the greatest of our lifetimes.”
Meanwhile, President Trump just cut off aid to Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvadore. He’s also shutting down part or all of the border this week to stop the invasion from Central America. Trump fiercely criticized Democrats for impeding progress to improve immigration laws, tweeting that “Dems don’t care about the crime, they don’t want any victory for Trump and the Republicans, even if good for USA!” Hard to argue with that premise.
O’Rourke is not only against ICE and wants them defunded he wants to take down existing barriers on the border and open it up entirely. I’m sure the drug cartels, coyotes, and gangs are cheering Beto on over this. Beto stands for all of the left wing drivel we’ve heard lately.
He’s been campaigning for two weeks and is simply adored by Democrats. But America as a whole, not so much. We care about border security and the rule of law… not another wealthy liberal pretending to be Hispanic and claiming to give a damn when he doesn’t.
