Bernie Sanders AND Mitt Romney Excoriate Joe Biden For Claiming China is Not A Threat
It is a rare occurrence when socialist Bernie Sanders and Conservative Mitt Romney agree on anything, but this week they stand in unison against Joe Biden’s view on China as a threat! At campaign rally in Iowa City, Biden had dismissed China as any real threat, causing many to question his foreign policy credentials. “I hear these stories about how China is going to eat our lunch. Give me a break!” he said.
“It’s wrong to pretend that China isn’t one of our major economic competitors,” Sanders wrote in a tweet. “When we are in the White House we will win that competition by fixing our trade policies.”
Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah responded to his remarks by saying, “This will not age well.”
And they are both correct.
It should be pointed out that one of the areas that Bernie Sanders and President Trump agree is Trade and China. They may not agree on solutions, but the incredibly agree on the threat and economic implications.
Both President Trump and Sanders have criticized free trade deals for sapping American manufacturing jobs.
Biden stated in full:
“China is going to eat our lunch? Come on, man. They can’t even figure out how to deal with the fact that they have this great division between the China Sea and the mountains in the east, I mean in the west, They can’t figure out how they are going to deal with the corruption that exists within the system. I mean, you know, they’re not bad folks, folks. But guess what, they’re not competition for us.”

While I happen to agree with the positive, “We can do it!” tone of Biden’s remark, he is seriously misguided.
One of the few areas I agree with Biden is his view of the the strength of the American ideal and the economic and educational power of the United States. It is what will always keep him from joining the “America sucks” far-left.
“We have the wealthiest and most prosperous economy in the world in the history of the world including China, we have the most powerful military in the history of the world,” he told Delaware Democrats in March before launching his campaign.
And again, he is correct!
But China is a major economic competitor, and their goals are far from saintly. As a power that wants to dominate the region around it, nothing has changed in decades. It is still there goal. China is aggressively enlarging its military, taking over islands in Asian waters, and dangerously expanding its industrial reach into all corners of the world.
As the Pentagon has worked to prepare the U.S. military for the future, military planners have been looking to China as the next potential large-scale threat to the United States. If they get full control of their region, they will next try to dominate the world and their goal is obviously not freedom.
China’s economic and military prowess has grown significantly over the past two decades. The key to their physical power, lies in their economic power. China engages in hostile trade practices, stealing America’s intellectual property, and manipulating their currency for trading advantages against us.
Former United States ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley even went as far as to set up an “advocacy” group which described China as the “biggest foreign threat to America”.
So, Yes, Biden, the “We are great!” talk is wonderful, but don’t downplay china. I don’t always agree with Romney, but he is correct.
It won’t age well!
