ACLU Director Calls Reparations ‘Idiocy’ and ‘Buffoonery’ Tells Sharpton to STOP Blaming Whitey [Clip]

Almost every Democrat Presidential hopeful has decided to campaign on reparations, but the former head of the ACLU, Michael Meyers. is calling out the party for their blatant scheme. The subject got a boost last week when Rev. Al Sharpton asked the top-tier 2020 Democratic presidential contenders at his National Action Network (NAM) conference in New York this week if they would support it. One by one, the candidates answered yes, some not for the first time.

But Meyers has some harsh words for both Sharpton and the candidates.

Michael was on FNC’s The Ingraham Angle discussing ol’ Al Sharpton. She asked Michael if he thinks the whole thing’s a scam.

“Yep!”

“It’s more of that Blame Whitey movement mania. And it’s sheer racial rhetoric. That’s what you get at the Al Sharpton so-called ‘House of Justice,’” he said.

“You have buffoonery. You have diversion, you have distraction. You have this notion of farce,” Meyers said on Fox News.

Michael, who now serves as executive director for the New York Civil Rights Coalition, also took aim at Sharpton’s NAM event.

“So at that house of so-called ‘justice,’ you have either a horror picture show showing, or you have a farce. Either way, it is not to be taken seriously,” he said.

“I can’t understand how serious presidential contenders can give legitimacy to a racial blowhard. I think it is outrageous and silly and idiocy on the part of the presidential candidates,” he said.

“Anybody who thinks that white Americans are going to take the blame or going to feel guilty or give their land and their property away in some sort of reparations pot because they feel responsibility for the sins of their forebears [are delusional]. They’re not,” Meyers said.

“Nobody is giving up their house, nobody is giving up their land. So what are they talking about? These people are chasing a farce,” he said.

Of course, many have been calling it not only a scam, but a tool. Many have pointed out that they will use the topic to press for black vote, (Desperate anyone?), and then drop the issue after the election.

The consistent talk of reparations, that they know is not going to happen, is the biggest pander in the history of politics.

The legislation was already written a while back.

H.R. 40, a piece of legislation that was handed off from former Michigan Rep. John Conyers, who left Congress in 2017, to Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, is sitting on the table.

The bill lays out all the steps. First you form a commission. Then you study what damage was done from slavery, and the legacy of slavery. Then you try to figure out the best ways to remedy it.

But the defining feature of Democratic presidential politics in 2019 is that the activist base of the party has zoomed so far to the left, it has created a civil war with the moderates. The reparations debate has continued to expose the crucial divide among Democrats.

So where do they go from here? We will see! Most moderates are trying to pull the party back from the socialist cliff, but they seem to be losing that battle!
