Until just a bit ago, it seemed as if the Democratic solid party line on the sexual harassment allegations being leveled at former Vice President Joe Biden told him you get the first one free. That seems to have changed now with a second woman coming forward from Connecticut to accuse Biden with inappropriately touching her in 2009 at a political fundraising event. Oops.
The Hartford Courant is now reporting that a woman named Amy Lappos is leveling the charge at Biden after she heard about former Nevada Democrat state Sen. Lucy Flores’ allegations against him last week. I have no love lost for Joe Biden but the timing of these new accusations seems to be politically motivated.
Both Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin and avowed socialist Bernie Sanders (I-VT) rushed to Biden’s defense over the weekend, claiming that a single sexual harassment allegation, no matter how credible, shouldn’t immediately and irreparably derail a blossoming presidential campaign. So, someone manufactured a second one.
From The Harford Courant:
“Lappos, 43, who is now a freelance worker with nonprofit agencies, said she felt extremely uncomfortable when Biden approached her at the 2009 fundraiser for U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, D-4th, where she was volunteering. At the time, Lappos was a congressional aide to Himes, who she said was not in the room when the incident took place.”
She also told The Courant: “It wasn’t sexual, but he did grab me by the head.” Then why is this even news? “He put his hand around my neck and pulled me in to rub noses with me. When he was pulling me in, I thought he was going to kiss me on the mouth.”
“I never filed a complaint, to be honest, because he was the vice president. I was a nobody,” Lappos continued. “There’s absolutely a line of decency. There’s a line of respect. Crossing that line is not grandfatherly. It’s not cultural. It’s not affection. It’s sexism or misogyny.”
Lappos made her accusation on Facebook which is cowardly if you ask me. She didn’t even use her real name… she went by the pseudonym Alice Paul:
“Biden did something similar to me at a fundraiser in Greenwich when I was a Congressional Aide. I’m really disappointed to see this post ask “thoughts” as if the grossness of men invading women’s boundaries to sniff and touch is debatable. And shame on some of the women here excusing this as boys being boys or it’s not as bad as Trump. I can speak from experience when I say it’s an incredibly uncomfortable situation and not at all acceptable. We need to hold our men to the same standards we hold all men.”
This particular incident supposedly happened on October 5th, 2009… ten years ago. It allegedly happened inside the home of a housing developer who was hosting the fundraising event.
“If Biden truly supports women and gender equality he would step aside and support one of the many talented and qualified women running,” Lappos added. And there it is… the tell that shows this is a political hit job. Figures.
From The Daily Wire:
“The newest allegation against Biden comes after Flores accused Biden last week of sexual harassment, saying that she “had never experienced anything so blatantly inappropriate and unnerving before.”
“Just before the speeches, we were ushered to the side of the stage where we were lined up by order of introduction,” Flores wrote. “As I was taking deep breaths and preparing myself to make my case to the crowd, I felt two hands on my shoulders. I froze. ‘Why is the vice-president of the United States touching me?'”
“I felt him get closer to me from behind. He leaned further in and inhaled my hair. I was mortified,” Flores continued. “He proceeded to plant a big slow kiss on the back of my head. My brain couldn’t process what was happening. I was embarrassed. I was shocked. I was confused. … I wanted nothing more than to get Biden away from me.”‘
And yet, she waited five years to air this. I detect a trend. The bottom line here is that Joe Biden is not radical enough for his own party anymore and they are going to take him out of the running so a more ‘progressive socialist’ can lead the party.
Both of his accusers are calling for him to drop out of the 2020 presidential running. Look for the women to start lining up – it’s straight out of the Democratic playbook these days.
