CHAOS! Pelosi’s Career Is Over! She Has Lost Total Control Of The House!
Speaker Nancy Pelosi started her latest tenure as House leadership with many Democrats questioning her qualifications and voting against her, and it has only gone significantly downhill in the months since.
Seriously, I do not see how anything gets any better, only worse!
This last week has shown us clearly just how badly things have deteriorated as she tried to keep unity over Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar’s antisemitic comments about Israel.
As we reported yesterday, Pelosi stormed out of a meeting to discuss a resolution the House was to vote on condemning antisemitism. The Democrats are totally divided.
This new group of incoming far left freshman members of congress absolutely does not want to condemn Omar and her radical tweets and statements. The old school congress, wants her hate speech stopped. Pelosi has been stuck in the middle and cannot win.
Newt Gingrich elaborated on just how much of a quagmire Pelosi is in. According to Gingrich, Pelosi is being forced to change House rules just to maintain control of the body.
“Look, she is losing control of the House,” Gingrich said of the divisions within the House’s Democratic caucus.
Omar has faced criticism on numerous occasions for her outrageous antisemitic comments about Israel and Jewish people. This had caused Democratic members of the House to bring the resolution to the floor, after criticism from Jewish lawmakers, the Anti-Defamation League and others.
“They may be forced in a desperation move to change the House rules, to block Republicans from offering anything which would, I think, lead to chaos. But she can’t get her party to stay together. And if you’re a moderate district, if you’re in a district that Trump carried, or if you’re in a district that’s heavily Jewish, and you’re watching the Democrats go crazy, and you are a Democratic freshman running for reelection, this has to be a really decisive moment.”
Pelosi is in a tight bind, trying to find a way to admonish and instill discipline in Omar while also avoiding alienating the younger Democrats.
“Why are we unable to singularly condemn antisemitism?” Rep. Deutch (D) asked. “It feels like we’re only able to call out the use of anti-Semitic language by a colleague of ours — any colleague of ours — if we’re addressing all forms of hatred. It feels like we can’t say it’s antisemitism unless everyone agrees it’s antisemitism.”
Democratic New York Rep. Eliot Engel, a prominent and long serving Jewish member of the House, was outraged and demanded action. Pelosi set the wheels in motion to do just that. But that process ran aground, forcing her to re-craft a broader anti-hate message that the whole Democratic caucus could get behind.
Talk about being torn apart from both sides!
But this week is really just one of many incidents since the Democrats took hold of the House that have had Nancy Pelosi requiring headache medicine.
From the grassroots level, to the DNC, there is a huge fight going on behind the scenes between the Socialist and Moderate factions within the Democrat party.
I just got off the phone with a longtime friend who is involved heavily with the local liberal grassroots movement as well as campaigns and staffing at the national level.
“Unfortunately, you would be doing the happy dance if you really knew how bad it was!” she laughed at me. “The leadership is split, the activists are split, and the voters are split! The hard feelings are really beginning to erupt.”
The leadership is “at a quandary”, she told me. “The ‘socialist’ wing has taken over the younger vote and the leadership and moderates know that it is toxic. They cannot seem to get the far-left to control what they say! Every meeting I have attended for 6 weeks has ended with tension.”
But as our conversation ended, we discussed that we both knew she was not telling me anything that I could not already assume. It has been clear for some years now that this war was brewing!
10 years ago, any occasional mention of socialism was immersed in “Democratic Socialism”.
I have been involved in politics for over 3 decades. I have never seen such a quagmire as the Democrats are in right now. I really do not see a way out. With Bernie Sanders continuing to draw Democrat voters closer to socialism, and Ocasio-Cortez becoming the face of the modern Democrat party, I just do not know how Pelosi survives this!
Even CNN reported:
It’s a party caught between its past and its future. The current House Democratic freshman class represents the future of the Democratic Party: an increasingly diverse, female, liberal and younger face of a party that, for decades and decades (and like all politics), was dominated by white men and smoke-filled rooms.
And it’s not only that these new members look different than how past Democratic majorities looked. It’s that they act differently, too. They are more willing to say — or tweet — what’s on their minds, whether or not it is “politically correct” to do so. Or if what they say will get them in trouble with their party’s leadership.
Get the popcorn! It is going to be a VERY interesting ride!
Or as they used to say at Disneyland’s Thunder Mountain Railroad! “Hang on to your hats and glasses, ’cause this here’s the wildest ride in the wilderness!”
