CNN’s Acosta Earns Trolling Praise From President Trump: ‘Good Job! I Appreciate the Sales Pitch’

Acosta made Trump's point on the border wall perfectly.

CNN’s Jim Acosta is the gift that keeps on giving to Republicans. And no one is more adept at pointing it out than President Trump himself who is a master troller of the left. After Trump returned Friday from the southern border, a gaggle of reporters descended on him as usual. One of those was the infamous Jim Acosta who has a long history of getting combative with the president.

Acosta had gone to McAllen, Texas to cover what he claimed was a ‘non-existent emergency’. Instead of making President Trump look bad, Acosta wound up making Trump’s point on the border wall. About fifty miles from where Acosta was pontificating endlessly, a Mexican cartel took the opportunity to kill and burn about 20 people in vehicles right over the border. National security anyone? It is also a part of the humanitarian crisis on the border.

Originally, from last week, Acosta stated: “Here are some of the steel slats that the president has been talking about, right here, as you can see, yes you can see through these slats to the other side of the U.S.-Mexico border,” Acosta said. “As we’re walking along here we’re not seeing any kind of imminent danger, there are no migrants trying to rush toward this fence here in the McAllen, Texas area.”

Acosta continued, noting that there was “no sign of the national emergency” that Trump has warned about as he stood next to the wall. It sure looks like disinformation and propaganda against President Trump and national security to me. And again, Acosta could have experienced that firsthand if he had not been lucky enough to be 50 miles away from the encounter.

Acosta posed next to the wall and stated there “were no migrants trying to rush for this fence,” adding “matter of fact, it’s pretty tranquil down here.” Except for the violence, crime, and death of course. This was an opening that Trump could not resist: “Good job yesterday. I appreciate your salesmanship. I appreciate your salesmanship. … Some people are dumb.” Blunt talk like that may very well get Trump reelected in 2020.

The long form of the quote is:

“I didn’t see any danger on the border Mr. President,” Acosta replied.

“That’s because we had a wall,” Trump replied.

“There were portions that didn’t have a wall,” Acosta replied, as reporters left the room.

Trump ignored Acosta’s response and continued, “Some people are dumb. Great promotion for us.”

During his trip last week, Acosta tried to assure Americans that there wasn’t “anything resembling a national emergency situation.” He literally doesn’t know what one is and it’s staring him in the face. People are being trafficked and murdered and we are being invaded. That pretty much fits the definition of ‘national emergency’ for me.

Enter President Trump with his epic response:

The Daily Wire wrote that in another video, Acosta showed what he said was an area of the border that shows fencing with barbed wire, writing: “All quiet on this stretch of the border ahead of Trump’s visit to McAllen TX area.” Except he was looking in the wrong spot.

Lucky for Acosta… if he had seen what was really going on right under his nose he might not exist anymore. Wonder if his mind would change then, however briefly.

Another video from Acosta showed him interviewing a local resident about the safety of the area. She was cherry-picked for the right response. The woman confirmed to Acosta that the area, which has border barriers, was safe. It’s safe because of the barriers.

Acosta is making the point that the wall is necessary even though he doesn’t get it. It’s rich when the left actually makes the point necessary for the right… build the wall.
