Napolitano: 2nd Amendment IS About Defending Government from Tyrants
Recently, Judge Andrew Napolitano wrote that the Second Amendment was designed to protects gun rights so Americans can use those very guns to defend themselves from criminals and tyrants their own government.
The 2nd Amendment protects the 1st Amendment.
It also protects the 4th, 5th, 6th….
The 2nd Amendment guarantees our Constitutional rights form future tyrants that would like to remove those rights from us!
Judge Andrew Napolitano explains in his latest:
You have often heard me argue that the premise of the Bill of Rights — the first 10 amendments to the Constitution — is that our rights come from our humanity. Hence the First Amendment, for example, does not command that Congress grant the freedom of speech; rather it commands that Congress shall not infringe upon the freedom of speech.
So you’re right to think as you wish, to say what you think, to publish what you say; your right to worship or not to worship; your right to associate with others or not to associate with others are all natural rights with which the government may not interfere, unless by your own behavior you have given those rights up.
The same is the case with respect to the right to self-defense. What is more natural than protecting your own body from harm? You can protect yourself and your loved ones and your property or even a stranger, and to do so, you can use the same means that someone who is threatening you may be using.
The Second Amendment protects the natural right to keep and bear arms; the same type of arms that crooks and thugs might use against you; and the same type of arms that government agents might use against you. We all know that the police can’t be everywhere. We also know that the first thing tyrants do when they come to power is to disarm the population. Sometimes tyrants are jackbooted thugs. Sometimes tyrants are the majority in an elected government.

Gun control does not only fail, it creates a dangerous atmosphere where people die. MOf all of the mass killings by guns in the United States in recent years, most took place in venues where local or state law prohibited carrying guns. The government cheerfully calls these venues “gun-free zones.” They should be called killing zones.
It really is simple. I always use this simple question:
Which building will a criminal enter for nefarious purposes?
One that has a sign out front, stating it is a gun-free zone, letting the criminal know that everyone is unprotected?
Or will you be safer in a building that says out front: Customers and Employees Packin’! Where the criminal understands that those inside can protect themselves with force if necessary?
30-40 years ago, High School students everywhere actually took their guns to school. They went hunting after ward, or they were involved in classes or groups that included guns as a hobby or for practice and training. But where were the mass shootings? They were very rare!
Now guns are not allowed in schools. That never stopped the insane!
What changed? Guns? Or society?
Pretty easy answer!
Criminals do not follow rules. Where gun laws are flourishing, so is gun crime.
It is one thing to not be able to protect ourselves from bad guys. It is another if those bad guys in the future… are government tyrants!
