Don’t Talk About Gun Control When You Can’t Even Get Your Facts Right

A recent graduate and support of on-campus carry rights is butting heads with ignorant fools including Head Wimp, David Hogg.

Having completed her studies at Kent State University, Kaitlin Bennett from Ohio posted a photo of herself with an AR-10 and a cap that reads “Come And Take It.” The photo was posted along in a recent spat of women who have been taking photos of themselves carrying guns as part of their graduation.

Kaitlin Bennett Says: Get Your Facts Straight

At 22, Kaitlin has made appearances on Fox for her photos, and has been tweeting about the people insulting her over her photos, saying that naysayers are calling her AR-10 an “assault rifle.”

“Wouldn’t it be awkward if the people calling my AR-10 in my grad photos an “assault rifle” found out assault rifles are banned & the AR-10 fires at the same rate as any modern pistol?
Don’t talk about gun control when you can’t even get your facts straight.”

On Tuesday, she wrote:

“I have no apologies for my graduation photos. As a woman, I refuse to be a victim & the second amendment ensures that I don’t have to be.”

Detractors Not Understanding the Point

Famously, Kent State was the site of the deaths of four students during an anti-Vietnam protest during which the state’s National Guard was called in. Kait’s defense is that the students were only killed by government orders because they themselves were not allowed to carry guns:

“Now that I graduated from @KentState, I can finally arm myself on campus. I should have been able to do so as a student- especially since 4 unarmed students were shot and killed by the government on this campus. #CampusCarryNow”

As a student, Kait had no right to carry, but now that school is out she is again allowed to protect herself. The issue is that it’s students who are selectively barred from carrying.

Here are some of the complaints lodged against her demonstration people by who are very, very far off the mark.

“At least someone will listen to you right? Had to get that Ole’ @FoxNews support for your white privilege validation… at a university where people were shot for protesting a war and attempting to be peaceful… you are trash.”

“may I just ask what exactly you need a weapon like that for other than a task that would lead to mass destruction. that’s a weapon of war. was this to merely start controversy or are you just an extremely hostile and dangerous person? you shouldnt be taking so much pride in this”

“what kind of psychopath needs that kind of gun, a handgun is understandable but your absolutely ridiculous lmao wth”

Kent State Survivor’s Child Speaks Up

While four were killed at Kent State, there were thousands more there. One man says his father was on campus during the shooting says that his father agreed that gun control is knowing how to properly use a gun:

Kait on Fox

After her photo made the rounds, Kaitlin appeared on Fox to “take a jab” at the “insulting policies” that Kent State has in regards to students arming themselves. Here’s the video at just over 1 minute long:

Bennett has reported that she has received death threats for her position, but she was recently offered a job with Blue Target Firearms as a result of her assertions and photos.

It seems like a long time ago now that openly carrying your conservatism in public could get you punched, or result in a job loss. Now, it seems like good business to take a stand.

David Hogg

There’s no such thing as a gun post without that twerp David Hogg getting into it. He was retweeting racist claims about Bennett without “tagging” her in, meaning that she was not aware of the posts until afterwards when she wrote this, mentioning his Nazi-like branding:

Last Month At Kent: Female Student Talking About Guns Has Cops Called On Her

A few weeks ago we wrote about Leandra Westbrook who was detained by campus police and then the local police after being overheard on the phone with a friend. Leandra was talking about how she wasn’t able to carry on campus despite having her license, but she alleges that student tattle-tales lied to the police and said that she actually was carrying a gun.

Westbrook was searched and she is planning on pursuing the issue.

Since Westbrook is known to be a conservative and has continued to be harassed over the incident, she wants to take matters “into [her] own hands.”

Kent State has a full time police force who work as campus officers and the school was recently praised as the safest big campus in Ohio and the 25th safest in the nation, at least according to the National Council for Home Safety and Security.
