Obama’s Claim of 18 School Shootings This Year, Proved Wrong
File this away with the claim that he visited “all 57 states.”
Barack Obama gave an expensive, rambling speech to a group of cardiologists. Obama, who was addicted to cigarettes for years and snorted cocaine in college wasn’t there to talk about his healthy habits.
Obama’s Poor Quality Speech
During a keynote speech at a cardiology conference on Tuesday, less than a block from the White House, Obama fawned over his response to the deadly Sandy Hook shooting. His speech was muddled, because he’s a terrible speaker so it’s hard to guess what he meant for most of the speech. All that cocaine in college probably wasn’t good for him. But he did manage to push this mangled bit out:
“If you ask me the thing that broke my heart, particularly when now I see there have been, and I’ve gotta update this… 18 shootings in schools this years… THIS YEAR!”
First of all, that number is wrong. We can discuss your garbage sentence structure later. “Best speaker in American history” my rear end. I’ve heard toddlers who were better able to get their point across.
Obama’s 18 School Shootings Claim… Busted
The claim that there have been 18 school shootings went unchallenged by the moderator on stage.
So far, right wing outlets are pointing out that the figure is flat wrong, while left wing outlets are desperate to rationalize the mistake. There isn’t much here to prove on our end, so instead we can sit back and laugh at the lefties who want us to forget that it ever happened.
Snopes Tries To Cover Up
Even Snopes, which gets top billing whenever you perform a Google search about any Democrat, couldn’t verify the claim. They gave a list of “school shootings” since January 1st that included:
- A student firing a handgun into the air, with no injuries reported
- A 32-year-old man being shot outside of the school during a fight that broke out during a basketball game
- Shots were fired in a school parking lot, with no injuries reported
- A student committing suicide using a gun in a school bathroom
Even with all these stretches they couldn’t get that magic number of 18 shootings, even when they include suicides and when nobody gets hurt.
Obama is breaking centuries of tradition by talking about politics after his time is over. Every other President took a long, long vacation and knew to shut their mouths and let the current administration take over. With all of his free time, maybe Obama can brush up on the history of violence in schools in America, and find that guns aren’t the sole cause of death.
Worst School Massacres In American History
The Bath School Disaster — In 1927, a School Board Treasurer killed 38 students and 6 adults in Bath Township, Michigan after murdering his own wife and firebombing his property. He committed suicide after setting off an explosion at the new school. Andrew Kehoe, 55, was allegedly upset at losing a recent election for township clerk and was angered over the higher taxes demanded to fund the school.
Virginia Tech Shooting — In 2007, a student killed 32 people on campus in Blacksburg, Virginia. At the time it was the deadliest school massacre perpetrated with guns. Seung-Hui Cho used Glock and Walther pistols to commit the murders.
Sandy Hook Elementary — Shooter Adam Lanza committed suicide after killing 26 people, both children and staff at a school in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012. He carried a Bushmaster and a Glock.
University of Texas Tower Shooting — Seventeen people were killed in Austin, Texas in 1996 when Charles Whitman barricaded himself in a tower at the University of Texas. Whitman, a former Marine sharpshooter, killed his wife and mother and then killed 14 more on campus, including an unborn child. The shooter had sought help for his “overwhelming violent impulses” and fantasized about shooting people from the University Tower. His autopsy report found that he had suffered from a brain tumor. He had used a variety of handguns and long guns during his 90 minute siege.
Stoneman Douglas High School Shooting — Also known as the Parkland shooting, which took place on Valentine’s Day 2018. Seventeen people died.
Columbine High School Massacre — Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed13 people before taking their own lives in 1999 in Colorado. They used a variety of weapons including 99 explosives and a sawed-off shotgun.
