BACKFIRE: NRA Memberships Skyrocket Due To Anti-Gun Student Activist David Hogg
Anti-Gun Activist David Hogg has surely received his 15 minutes of fame attacking the NRA after the Parkland, Florida school shooting, but the results are not quite what he was looking for.
Hogg has attacked the NRA, its members, and has called for people to boycott Amazon, Fed-Ex and other companies over their ties to the NRA.
Hogg, 17, survived the mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida, that left 17 dead earlier this month. He has since become a vocal advocate for gun control reform. Along with several other students, Hogg formed Never Again MSD, an advocacy organization that calls for stricter gun rights.
He has used social media as well as the MSM to berate, demonize, and excoriate anyone and everyone attached in any way to the NRA.
But Hogg might have only accomplished the opposite of what he is trying to accomplish.
While a few companies have distanced themselves from the gun rights organization, social media is now filled with people claiming that they are joining the NRA.
While the NRA does not release membership numbers, we do get their tax returns. At some point we will know just exactly how much help Hogg has given the NRA. But if what we have seen on social media in recent days is any sign, it is going to be huge.
Never in a million years did I think I would be an NRA member–I'm not a hunter or sportsman. But the full-on attack against this organization, which empowers law-abiding gun owners to protect themselves, prompted me to join. @NRA #2A pic.twitter.com/4sQ8kAYm5U

What is amazing about the phenomenon is that traditionally, many ardent gun rights supporters have not been friendly to the NRA, known for being soft on the issue.
I wonder how many Millions of New Members the NRA will gain in the next couple of weeks.. Already 5 Million Strong.. I bet the membership will be up to 10 Million by the time the NRA's annual meeting happens in Dallas in May.
See you there Patriots! #JoinTheNRA

BACKLASH: Americans are in this for the long haul! An estimated 7000 people showed up for a Florida gun show yesterday! The government will never take our guns! #2ADefenders Join the @NRA pic.twitter.com/55HWmnKwOv

While we do not have enough room to show you the extent of the calls too, and the promises to join the NRA, a quick search on social media will give you a good idea.
But this meme says it all!
Thank you David Hogg!
The NRA couldn’t have asked for a better marketing campaign!

On Saturday, Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg asked a simple question:
So which people support the NRA the most?
— David Hogg (@davidhogg111) February 24, 2018
It’s been a few days, but the answers to his question keep pouring in. We’re guessing Hogg was looking for a list of companies to boycott or legislators to target, but maybe some of the answers he got will sink in.

Hogg’s prominence on the national stage as an advocate for stricter gun control has earned him a number of detractors including conservative voices, members of the far-right and even conspiracy theorists.
“He goes on television and knows he gets to use what happened to him as a shield to avoid criticism. The media allows him to attack all the targets the media would be attacking anyway. They do not question him or hold him accountable. It further emboldens him to attack others,” Erickson wrote. “High school kids are not people we should take seriously on any subject. If he cannot hold all the people who screwed up accountable because of his agenda and he accuses anyone who disagrees with him of hatred, he is not someone any of us should pay attention to.”
Hogg even taunted President Trump on Twitter over his draft status.
Calling the sheriff a coward is so ironic coming from a man who evaded the draft multiple times due to his power and influence. @realDonaldTrump you're a hypocrite that is owned by the NRA please prove me wrong.
— David Hogg (@davidhogg111) February 27, 2018
But Mr. Trump did not, in fact, call the sheriff a coward. He used that word for Deputy Scot Peterson and implying similarly about other deputies, for reportedly staying outside the building during the fatal rampage.
David Hogg and the MSM really should know better.
The large majority of Americans believe in the 2nd Amendment.
Most Americans think government error is more responsible than a lack of gun control for the Valentine’s Day massacre at a Florida high school.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 54% of American adults believe the failure of government agencies to respond to numerous warning signs from the prospective killer is more to blame for the mass shooting. Thirty-three percent (33%) attribute the deaths more to a lack of adequate gun control. Eleven percent (11%) opt for something else.
Among Americans who have children of elementary or secondary school age, 61% think the government is more to blame. Just 23% of these adults fault a lack of adequate gun control more.
Gun control does not work. In fact, a great argument could be made that it makes us less safe.
As gun ownership has increased since the 90’s, gun crime has significantly dropped.
But at the same time, in California and Chicago, where they have the liberals DREAM of gun control:
They have the worst gun crime stats in the nation. Simple.
