College: Cure Conservatism With These Classes
Arab student paying 50 grand to attend his classes thinks conservatives are selfish and out to hurt poor, frightened marginalized people like him.
Referencing left-wing idiots at the New York Times and the Washington Post, Naseem Otham calls everyone he disagrees with a “fascist” but wants to force conservative students to attend more left-wing events and classes.
“Boo hoo poor me” Isn’t An Argument
I won’t bore you with rehashing the argument because you’ve heard the same thing before. The author offers nothing new except the idea that conservatives should be forced to listen to whatever trash the left wants to spew. Imagine having such a trashy ideology that you have to compel people to listen to it! Crowds happily waited hours to listen to Trump speech. On American campuses, you have to force students to go to lefty events.
“I know I can’t convince some conservatives to care about people who are hurting needlessly, but I will call them out on it.”
But, I do enjoy how exceptionally angry the left has gotten over the fact that with a small touch of freedom, a person will become conservative even it if means social isolation. In this case, the only social isolation is that the conservative kids won’t be spending any time with our good friend Naseem here. What a horrible fate.
“Using the resources available to college students, like student organizations, conservatives should attend a general body meeting of a more leftist-leaning student group to learn more.”
I thought your school was expensive? And you want more of your tuition to go towards activities that have nothing to do with putting your head down and earning a degree?
“We need for conservatives to be called on to re-evaluate their political views and actions. The most vulnerable people in our society are negatively and disproportionately impacted by these values, and we don’t have time to coddle conservative students.”
Here’s a helpful hint for the real world: nobody will have any time to coddle you with your left wing garbage when you leave the cocoon of post secondary. Unless, of course, you work for a union or become a professor yourself.
Author Naseem Othamn
The author of the piece is described as a freshman political science student. Their previous pieces for the Hatchet are titled:
- GW must look to multicultural student leaders to help develop diversity training
- GW must take these steps to ensure corporate funding does not compromise resarch
His piece on “multicultural student leaders” is a hoot. He conflates black students with “other minorities,” as if civil rights had anything to do with newcomers. No, civil rights and diversity has to do with righting the wrong of slavery against black Americans. You’re an Arab. You’re new here. You don’t get the same special seat at the table that blacks get. Nobody in America owes you a thing.
It’s all so perfect. A first-year student at a pricey swanky school lecturing conservatives on being out-of-touch with reality. I know lots of people who studied political science. They all ended up in a cozy office somewhere being paid way too much to do way too little in terms of outreach to the voters.
$$$ George Washington University $$$
With around 11,000 undergrads and 15,500 graduate students attending the school, from over 130 countries, you’d think this twerp would be happy enough with the “seat at the table” he’s already been offered. If you’re not American, you’re in the country on the good graces of the people who are. You shouldn’t be demanding anything.
The school was founded in 1821 and undergrad tuition and fees cost over $51,000 every year.
Previously at GWU: Hating Catholics
A few years back we wrote up a law professor at the school for suing a nearby Catholic university for being Catholic. Prof. John Banzhaf was upset that the Catholics liked using crucifixes to decorate and was extra upset that the school was committed to remaining Catholic.
[Prof. Banzhaf] alleges that the university, “does not provide space – as other universities do – for the many daily prayers Muslim students must make, forcing them instead to find temporarily empty classrooms where they are often surrounded by Catholic symbols which are incongruous to their religion,” according to the Tower, Catholic University’s student newspaper.
The complaint further objects that Muslims must pray at the school’s chapels “and at the cathedral that looms over the entire campus – the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.”
It’s not social justice warriors who are ruining the west. It’s Godless heretics.
