The Trump administration announced Monday that a question about citizenship will officially be listed on the 2020 Census. Liberals in Democratic states like California are upset. Are they concerned about losing representatives they gained from the last census with illegal citizens?
Many are asking, ‘Is it legal to ask about citizenship on a census?’ Well, YES, it is! But the REAL difference between illegals voting in federal elections versus state elections may shock you the most!
The final decision to add the question on the 2020 Census was made by Commerce Department Secretary Wilbur Ross.
“I find that the need for accurate citizenship data and the limited burden that the reinstatement of the citizenship question would impose outweighs fears about a potentially lower response rate,” Ross wrote in a memo explaining his decision.
In a December 2017 letter, the Justice Department argued that including a citizenship question would “allow the agency to better enforce Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, which bars the dilution of voting power of a minority group through redistricting.”
“To fully enforce those requirements, the Department needs a reliable calculation of the citizen voting-age population in localities where voting rights violations are alleged or suspected,” the letter stated.
2020 CENSUS: This is the first time that such a question will be asked on the decennial census since 1950.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the question will ask whether a person is a citizen by birth or by naturalization or isn’t a citizen, but won’t ask about whether the immigrant is here illegally.
Democrats, immigration-advocacy groups and even the state of California condemned the decision, claiming the question would scare people from participating and result in a lower census count.
New York Rep. Jose Serrano tweeted,
@CommerceGov Secretary Ross’ decisión to include a citizenship question in the 2020 census wil only result in a low count and fear. The question is another way to push for a low & unfair count. I will present amendment to undo this language. @uscensusbureau
2020 CENSUS – CA PLANS TO SUE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION
By Monday evening, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra announced plans to file a lawsuit against the Trump administration over the decision.
“The Trump administration is threatening to derail the integrity of the census by seeking to add a question relating to citizenship to the 2020 census questionnaire. Innocuous at first blush, its effect would be truly insidious. It would discourage noncitizens and their citizen family members from responding to the census, resulting in a less accurate population count,” he said in a statement.
Isn’t it funny how Democrats are getting their little panties all in a wad over the inclusion of citizenship question on a US census for 2020? Should NONCITIZENS or ILLEGALS be counted as citizens in a census? It seems Democrats think so. How else do you think they can win future elections?

2020 CENSUS – PROTECTING AMERICANS AND ENFORCING THE LAW
Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen also tweeted,
I want to thank
@SenatorBurr & @MarkWarner for their SSCI hearing today on election security. Ensuring the integrity of the 2018 elections is a @DHSgov & Admin priority. We will continue to assist our state & local partners in protecting election systems from any interference.
IS IT LEGAL TO ASK CITIZENSHIP QUESTION ON 2020 CENSUS?
It certainly is imperative to secure our borders. Without border control their is no country. Of course, when it comes to the 2020 Census and election integrity, check out what Judge Napolitano says on this issue.
The answer is NO! The question is NOT illegal to have on the 2020 Census!
Only reason for this question on the census, would be to reevaluate number of representatives for each state based on legal population.
Of course, we are focuing on illegals and voting. The federal law stops illegals from voting in federal elections, but NOT in state elections.
No wonder we have so many states being ruined by Democrat governors who protect illegal citizens. Makes sense right? Illinois, California, New York, Pennsylvania and others all have Democratic governors who continue to work hard to protect their sanctuary cities and illegals because it all comes down to ….THE VOTES! It also comes down the number of representatives they might lose in the future. Isn’t that right California? Maybe even Illinois too, as both states have been hemorrhaging in population of legal citizens and trying hard to replace them with illegal citizens protected in sanctuary cities like LA and Chicago.
