If you are like most red-blooded Americans, hearing our national anthem performed at a game will bring a tear to your eye. There is something about the crowd, the song and the overwhelming feeling that gives me chills every time. Watching the President of the United States be a part of it, makes for an unforgettable experience.
Monday night, at the College Football Playoff National Championship game between the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide, President Trump surprised fans by walking onto the field for the national anthem. While there is nothing quite like experiencing it in person, this video comes quite close. I challenge you to watch it and not feel immense pride in our President and our country!

Of course, this year the national anthem has been in the headlines quite frequently as many players have disrespected our country, our flag and our servicemen, by kneeling during the song. This made Trump’s gesture all the more inspiring. I love that he has not remained on the sidelines for this important issue.

He sure knows how to make an entrance. President Trump surprised the packed Mercedes-Benz stadium Monday night before the College Football Playoff National Championship game between the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide. As always, Trump triggered a strong response from the crowd, inspiring an eruption of both cheers and jeers.
Trump took to the field as part of the celebration of the national anthem, the protest of which he has forcefully and repeatedly condemned over the last year.
After the announcer introduced the members of the ROTC of both UGA and Alabama, he announced the president. The stadium went wild, both loud cheers and applause ringing out along with jeers and boos until the performance of the anthem by the Zac Brown Band.
President Trump ratcheted up the debate over the national anthem protests in the NFL at a rally in September, when he suggested that NFL coaches should fire the “son of a b****” players who refuse to honor the flag.
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a b**** off the field right now. Out. He’s fired! He’s fired!'” said Trump to strong applause. “You know, some owner is going to do that. He’s going to say, ‘That guy that disrespects our flag, he’s fired.’ And that owner, they don’t know it [but] they’ll be the most popular person in this country.”
A few days after the president’s condemnation of the protests, over 200 NFL players refused to stand for the flag. League executives made a concerted effort to tamp down the protests over the course of the season to mixed results.
Of course, not everyone has celebrated this patriotic and moving gesture by President Trump. Already, liberal new outlets are jumping at the chance to diminish the gesture with headlines such as “Did President Trump forget the words to the national anthem? (BBC)” and “Trump was booed by fans waiting in the rain as he arrived at the national championship game (Business Insider).”
Apparently, Trump didn’t sing along for the whole song, which most people don’t. Many are listening to the performers sing the song and kinda sing along when they feel the urge. Let’s not forget to notice that he is STANDING with his HAND OVER HIS HEART! No, let’s focus on his lips moving. Unreal.
As for the “booing,” it was reported that some fans were left waiting to get in and were understandably annoyed. College Football Playoff executive director Bill Hancock said “Yes, there were delays as a result of the Secret Service protocol. Gate 1 was closed for a time. We regret that fans were inconvenienced.” It seems waiting in the rain to get into a game people paid big bucks to attend can be annoying, but that doesn’t mean they were booing the President! It seems more likely they were booing the handling of the entrances. It’s all in how you want to report it, I suppose.
Business Insider went on to say “Walking out for the national anthem, Trump received a slightly warmer reception.”
Um, yeah. I watched the video and “slightly warmer” is quite the understatement! Oh how it boils my blood when the media takes a wholesome display like this and nit picks it to death to make it appear more negatively! Watch the above video and tell me his reception was “slightly warmer” than being booed!
