NFL Disaster! After Devastating Season Ratings, Wild-Card Playoffs Prove Even Worse!

The NFL had a disastrous weekend when it came to ratings of all the wild-card playoff games. Colin Kaepernick broke football!

Numbers have been down all season and the popularity of the playoffs were no exception.

The NFL was hoping fan interest would pick up for the start of the NFL playoffs, but they were sadly mistaken. The National Anthem protests, even though they have died down some and the media has quit covering them, has created an NFL disaster.

NFL Disaster! After Devistating Season Ratings, Wild-Card Playoffs Prove Even Worse!

The first round of playoffs suffered double-digit ratings drops, as the NFL begins the most important part of its calendar year, Awful Announcing reported.

Overnight ratings for the league’s four Saturday-Sunday matchups collectively fell 11.5 percent compared with the same period last year. That’s worse than the 9.7 percent ratings drop for the recently completed 2017 regular season.

The biggest surprise was that the best game (Panthers-Falcons) had the biggest decrease year over year. Yes, markets were a big factor, but that was a competitive and entertaining game. Here’s the breakdown:

— Saints vs. Panthers (Fox Sports): Down 15 percent from last year’s comparable Giants-Packers telecast.

— Titans vs. Chiefs (ESPN/ABC): Down 11 percent from last year’s Texans-Raiders.

— Falcons vs. Rams (NBC Sports): Down 10 percent from last year’s Seahawks-Lions.

— Jaguars vs. Bills (CBS Sports): Down 10 percent from last year’s Steelers-Dolphins.

The Steelers and Patriots are the last two teams in the playoffs with true national fan followings. If they don’t deliver in this weekend’s divisional round games, the NFL and its TV partners will have even more reason for concern.

It should be noted that the 2016 season itself only saw an 8 percent tumble over the numbers from 2015; with the sports media claiming it was all due to a raucous 2016 presidential election season.

Much like 2016, NFL television viewership numbers went down again in 2017. Except this time, the viewership numbers dropped by a larger percentage than the previous year.

According to USA Today Sports, the average television audience size amongst the NFL’s broadcast partners, CBS, NBC, ESPN, NFL Network, and Fox, fell by 10 percent in 2017. That decline, follows the 8 percent drop from 2016.

As USA Today explains, “NFL broadcasts had an average minute audience of 14.9 million compared to 16.5 million in 2016. CBS, Fox, NBC and ESPN had a smaller audience than 2016.

“ESPN, which included its streaming audience, had the lowest drop among the four networks at a 7.7% decline. Fox had a 9.1% drop, NBC dipped 10.4% and CBS fell 11.2% compared to 2016.”

Like I said, Colin Kaepernick broke football.

The #BoycottNFL fans are offended that some players protested during the national anthem, so much so that those fans have chose to not watch telecasts, not show up at stadiums and not buy NFL merchandise. There are also over 200,000 fans who have signed a #NoKaepernickNoNFL petition, vowing to boycott games until a team hires unemployed quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

The boycott has been huge.

The NFL is broke, and Colin Kaepernick, (with the help of some other players and owners), has created a situation that has become a disaster with the NFL! NFL football has ceased to be America’s favorite sport, and fans have just turned them off and have quit going to games.

The NFL even cancelled the very last “Sunday Night Football” game of the season. There was no official announcement for what teams would be playing. The NFL just decided that since it would not have any playoff implications, they would simply not schedule the game.

It looks like they figured that this game would go in the hole financially. The question is: Does “Sunday Night Football” come back next year and how many games will it include?

Pictures of almost empty stadiums tell the real story. Keep in mind that game tickets are heavily priced on supply and demand, and that the ticket prices are at historic lows as well. 49er’s tix went as low as the price of two pretzels.

But now teams are having a real hard time filling seats! They still cannot fill the seats. Colin Kaepernick broke football!

The NFL even tried bribary to make the players stop disrespecting the flag and national anthem. They pledged to donate “nearly $100 million to causes considered important to African-American communities.”

“The NFL hopes this effort will effectively end the peaceful-yet-controversial movement that former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick started when he refused to stand for the national anthem last season,” ESPN reported.

The NFL best get control, but I don’t see that in the near future.

It is real simple. Protest on your own time. These lazy 3-minute antics have not been a real protest anyway. These morons don’t have the intestinal fortitude to go out and really protest. They are too busy living their high lifestyle on the millions of dollars they have received while living the American Dream.
