Many believe Christmas is a time for sharing. It’s also a time for remembering those we love and cherish. But most importantly it’s a time to recognize the birth of Jesus Christ, Our Savior.
It’s hard to imagine what it was like to be present then, with the Three Wise Men. Maybe this little story will give you a lift about three different wise men.
These three gallant scriptural figures temporarily put aside their personal responsibilities, and journeyed with gifts that honored the true spirit of Christmas.
Unless you live in various places along the East Coast. There, three selfless gentlemen recently decided to bring the joyous spirit of Christmas cheer to families they’ve never even met. During the holiday season, maybe you remember going to church and hearing tales about the Three Wise Men. These three gallant scriptural figures temporarily put aside their personal responsibilities, and journeyed with gifts that honored the true spirit of Christmas.
They call themselves the “Layaway Angels.” When first asked by media outlets, they simply chose to go by their first names: Charlie, Anthony, and Martino.
Some say Santa has been whispering merry rumors that Martino is actually Martino Cartier, renowned celebrity hair stylist.
Charlie is purportedly Charles Kartsaklis, CEO and founder of Code Green Solar.
Later interviews confirmed the identities of these generous men. But during the holidays, names don’t matter nearly so much as thoughtful deeds of goodwill.
And the incredible good deeds of Charlie, Anthony, and Martino are bringing surprised smiles to numerous lucky recipients.
One of those recent recipients was a little girl named Isabella. Thanks to these benevolent strangers, she now calls a brand new Tinkerbell doll her BFF.
And there are many more. They include Stephanie Dawson, whose grandchildren also received holiday presents that had been waiting on hold.
The “Layaway Angels” set out to pay off the layaway balances for hundreds of total strangers. Their goal is deceptively simple: to ease the extreme financial burden many folks tend to feel during a season that’s synonymous with gift-giving.
So they travel, much like the Three Wise Men. Their general territory of choice appears to be toy stores dotting New Jersey, Philadelphia, and the surrounding geographic region.
Recently, one Toys’R’Us employee was moved to actual tears by their profound generosity. The register tape in question tallied a whopping $10,000.
An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
From Luke 2:4-19:
This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”
Christmas is the story of Jesus. The real story of truth, love and hope. This season remember…Christ in Christmas. Jesus is the reason.
