Democrat Took $50K From Taxpayers To Keep A Former Staffer Quiet

Another Democrat is accused of using taxpayer funds as ‘hush funds’ to keep another accuser quiet about sexual harassment. Amazing isn’t it? How long has this REALLY been going on in Congress? How many people really knew about it and covered it up? Now, thanks to Hollywood and Harvey Weinstein, it’s all coming out in the open.

Similar to the events that have been happening in Hollywood with Harvey Weinstein and others, sexual harassment victims are coming out by the droves in Washington, DC, as well. You might say the shades have been drawn open and the light is being shined bright on sexual harassment and the victims involved. Victims are coming out of the woodwork. Here’as another Democrat that seems to have paid a victim to keep quiet.

Another victim is shedding some light on Democrat, Arizona Rep. Raul Grijalva.

From the Daily Caller,

The top Democrat on the House Committee on Natural Resources used taxpayer dollars to pay off a former staffer who threatened to sue, claiming the lawmaker was often drunk and created a hostile workplace.

Arizona Democrat Rep. Raul Grijalva’s secret deal with a former female staffer was revealed by The Washington Times on Monday. The payout was negotiated by the House Employment Counsel, the body’s attorney, and cost taxpayers $48,395.

The settlement, however, may have violated House rules, The Times reported. It’s against House rules for a lawmaker to retain “an employee who does not perform duties for the offices of the employing authority commensurate with the compensation such employee receives.”

Democrat Rep. Grijalva’s payout also should have been handed over in a lump sum, not paid out in monthly installments, The Times reported. Taxpayers paid Grijalva’s disgruntled staffer five month’s severance. The female staffer left her job after just three months, and didn’t pursue the matter after leaving Grijalva’s employment.

“On the advice of House Employment Counsel, I provided a severance package to a former employee who resigned,” Democrat Grijalva told The Times in a statement.

“The severance did not involve the Office of Compliance and at no time was any allegation of sexual harassment made, and no sexual harassment occurred,” Democrat Rep. Grijalva said.

…Probably just part of the agreement, wouldn’t you say?

“Under the terms of the agreement, had there been an allegation of sexual harassment, the employee would have been free to report it,” he said. “Regrettably, for me to provide any further details on this matter would violate the agreement.”

News of Democrat Grijalva’s payout comes amid debate over the $17.2 million in taxpayer funds used to settle 264 complaints of sexual harassment and other issues in Congress. The settlements are kept secret.

It’s hard to imagine that we, American taxpayers, funded the settlements for TWENTY YEARS of sexual harassment! In other words, WE paid to cover their stupid behinds! Anyone with a decent mind should be outraged!

If it guy next door, made inappropriate sexual advances or sexually harassed another individual at work, WE would not pay for HIS stupidity or arrogance would we? So, why would we approve of the payout of over $17 MILLION over 20 years to victims of Congressional members who have been sexually harassed? Come on people! Wake up!

This needs to end now!

Congresswoman and Democrat Jackie Speier (CA) is proposing a bill that needs to move forward on this topic – stopping Congressional funds from being used for sexual harassment settlements or hush funds.

Just like in Hollywood, I have no doubt there is a strong similarity between the sexual harassment victims of Harvey Weinsteins of the Hollywood and the Weinsteins of Washington, DC.

Recent Democrats that have been in the spotlight for sexual harassment include Democrat John Conyers (Michigan), Democrat Al Franken (Minnesota) and now Democrat Raul Grijalva. But you gotta’ believe over 20 years, there are a lot more where they came from right?…and let’s face it, they are not all Democrats either.

I mean come on, Hollywood didn’t come out until Harvey Weinstein got exposed and then, it was as if, the flood gates opened. The victims came out of the gates like a stampede. The same will happen in Washington, DC. You can’t expect sexually harassed women, to stay quiet over 20 years and not do anything.

It’s time the funds stopped. It’s time that members of Congress were held accountable for their stupidity and arrogance just like your neighbor next door. No one should be above the law, just ask Democrat and former president, Bill Clinton.

Because like powerful Harvey Weinstein in Hollywood, those that think they are in power on Capitol Hill will lose it all, when the truth comes out about their victims of sexual harassment, the specific amounts paid out to whom and for what Congressmen.

But the sickness of it, is still the only solution being proposed is mandatory sexual harassment training and legislation that relies solely on victims coming forward. Until these victims are protected by these people in power, they are not going to risk coming forward.

It’s nice to know we are finally reporting abuse when it happens, doing some lovely training to prevent it, but there should be a ZERO TOLERANCE when it comes to those who represent us in Congress who commit such disgusting behavior. I don’t care if they are a Democrat or Republican, it needs to stop NOW!

When there’s a common ‘creep list’ in Washington, DC, you know there’s a problem. When you know there are members who staffers don’t want to work around them because of their ‘reputation’ you know there’s most likely something to that.

If you were a new staffer and someone said to you, ‘be sure to keep an arm’s length from….” you know that person’s got issues!

Come on, right?

In a Roll Call survey of staffers taken in July 2016 showed how pervasive harassment remains on Capitol Hill. Forty percent of the women who responded said they believe sexual harassment is a problem on the Hill, and 15 percent, one in six, said they had been subjected to harassment themselves.

As Democrat Jackie Speier CA) pointed out it’s because of Congress’ own rules hinder the reporting sexual harassment. It’s complicated and difficult.

As in Hollywood, those in power are in control and can prohibit you from ever getting a job in Congress again. So many victims, for their own career stay quiet, while others accept the ‘hush funds’. But it’s time Congress found a better solution when it comes to members sexually harassing others. It’s called ZERO TOLERANCE!

It’s time to stop the abuse. It’s time to stop the funds. It’s time to investigate those members who have been wasting our taxpayer dollars! It’s time to do something constructive and get rid of this problem that has been spreading like a disease not only in Hollywood, but in Washington, DC.

Hmmm…..I wonder what the correlation is between a Democrat that boycotted Trump’s inauguration and those involved in sexual harassment? Or how about the correlation between a Democrat that are against Trump’s immigration policies and those accused of sexual harassment? Democrat Rep. Grijalva? Democrat Rep. Conyers? Democrat Rep. Franken? Looks like, so far there’s a 100% correlation. What say you?
