Geraldo took a trip to Puerto Rico and discovered that the United States media has been lying through their teeth about what is going on there concerning President Trump!
Contrary to the allegations of a biased media, the people of Puerto Rico were very happy that President Donald Trump came to the island to survey the damage from Hurricane Maria, Geraldo Rivera said Friday on Fox & Friends.
“He has been getting the worst, most dishonest press about his visit to Puerto Rico,” Geraldo said.
“It is staggering to me how unfair — how grotesquely unfair — the reporting has been,” he added.
Geraldo, whose family lives in Puerto Rico, saw Trump’s visit firsthand and said 90 to 95 percent of the people Trump met were enthusiastic about his visit.
Geraldo said the media distorts reality. For example, he noted that when Trump praised the island for its actions to ensure that the powerful Maria had a death toll of 16 as opposed to 1,800 from the less powerful Hurricane Katrina, he was attacked for seeming to downplay the loss of life on the island.
Reports attacking Trump are “fake news,” Geraldo said last week, pointing out how New York Times columnist Paul Krugman falsely claimed on Twitter there was a cholera outbreak on Puerto Rico.
The media has lost its credibility entirely, not that it had much left, now that Donald Trump is the President of the United States.
From Charlottesville to Hurricane Irma, the liberal media are determined to leverage the tragedy of the day to inflame the American people against President Trump. In Irma’s wake, CNN decided to shift coverage from the hurricane’s havoc to politics, attacking the president’s stance on climate change.
After Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Houston, MSNBC criticized Trump for visiting the city too soon. I remember them blaming President George W. Bush for visiting New Orleans too late after Hurricane Katrina.
Other outlets blasted first lady Melania Trump for wearing high heels on the plane to Houston. She changed into sneakers on the ground when they landed in Texas.
Pollsters have confirmed for many months that there is a clear media bias against President Trump. They also reveal that the American public is growing weary of the endless negative coverage, which masks authentic progress the president and his administration have made.
Americans are ready for some good news. And the press? Not so much. Outrage and Trump bashing have been good for ratings and readership. But tirades also allow journalists to vent about a president who pushes back against their criticism, in what they deem an “unpresidential” way.
Following the inauguration, an NBC News poll found that 51 percent of Americans said the media was “too critical” in its coverage of the president. 53 percent said the media exaggerated problems in the Trump administration. In March, a Harvard University survey found that 80 percent of print and broadcast coverage about Mr. Trump was negative during his first 100 days in office.
The liberal media perpetuates political bias so forcefully and unrelentingly that it has gone from subtle background noise to the entirety of their narrative. Is it any wonder Americans have record-high distrust for the mainstream media?
