NFL fans are furious, ratings are down, popularity is down, ticket prices are down, advertisers are bailing, and now three teams have demanded that their players stop the insane disrespect for the flag and the national anthem!
This weekend we reported that the Miami Dolphins owner and coach have both put their foot down and told their NFL players to stand for the national anthem.
Now Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys has threatened to sideline any player who participates in the antics.
Cowboys defensive linemen Damontre’ Moore and David Irving stood alongside teammates during the national anthem before Sunday’s home game against Green Bay at AT&T Stadium. At the conclusion of the anthem, the two players raised their fists.
“I don’t know about that. But if there is anything that is disrespectful to the flag then we will not play,” Jones said after the Cowboys’ 35-31 loss. “You understand? If we are disrespecting the flag then we won’t play. Period.
“We’re going to respect the flag, and I’m going to create the perception of it. And we have.”
It was blatantly obvious that the Pittsburgh Steelers all stood Sunday for the whole of the national anthem. Someone put their foot somewhere!
After a weekend where the NFL, and especially the Steelers, took huge backlash for disrespecting the flag and the national anthem, the Pittsburgh team has announced that the entire team will begin standing for the National Anthem!
“I promise you one thing, this week we will all be standing out there for the national anthem. Trust me,” Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey said last week.
Pouncey said he expected the entire team to be on the field for the anthem, and they were.
“As far as I know it’s 100 percent participation,” Pouncey had told reporters. “We love this country. It’s America. We know there are injustices in this world, but to me, personally, football is football and that’s what we need to approach it as.”
The heat is on and we knew it would only be time before the NFL and team owners would feel the ramifications of the boycott and require their employers to leave their politics off the time-clock.
I imagine, as the boycott has picked up steam in recent weeks, that many more owners will either publically, or privately, begin to do their best to stifle this situation. It really comes down to the dollar.
The POLITICO/Morning Consult poll released last week showing that the league’s favorability has fallen from 30 percent on September 21 to a low of 17 percent only a week later. The drop of 13 points in a single week coincides with the mass protests seen across the league during Week 3 of the NFL season.
It was reported that the 49ers were having to sell stadium tickets for less than the price of 2 pretzels.
AGAIN… these players have all the right, and I would stand by them to the death to defend that right, to protest and use their 1st Amendment rights to convey whatever message they want….
ON THEIR OWN TIME! Not their employer’s time or using their employer’s venue.
I expect many teams will follow, and I suspect that the NFL will have to get a hold of this issue. The boycott went crazy after this last weekend. It was already making a severe impact before.
Last year, Colin Kaepernick did so much damage that the NFL had to refund its advertisers because of a fast drop in viewership. At one point, ratings dropped to levels not seen since the 70’s.
In fact, Kaepernick really made a mess with his stupid antics!
Colin Kaepernick and his faux protest cost the 49ers $$Millions of dollars!
The NFL was forced to Refund Advertisers Because of Historic Low Viewership!
Monday Night Football hit its lowest viewership EVER as the protests have escalated!
In fact, the NFL’s Monday Night Football lost almost half it’s viewership in 2 weeks!
American football fans have had enough. It is time to end this madness. Shame on these berating the same country that made them multimillionaires and gave them such a comfortable lifestyle.
There is a major Veterans weekend NFL Football Boycott Planned. Click here for details.
We will be not be watching or listening to NFL games on November 12th in solidarity with veterans around the country, as football players have continued to disrespect the national anthem, the American flag, and everything our nation stands for.
