Caitlyn Jenner, who appeared on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live the other night, spoke out about President Trump and her own Republican beliefs with the late night talk show host. Jenner famously came out as transgender in 2015 and transitioned into a woman shortly thereafter.
Her connection to the Kardashians and her Olympic gold medal is what initially brought her to notoriety in the press. She discussed her decision to vote for President Trump and her conservative beliefs with Kimmel during one of his shows. Something she has admitted has gotten her more criticism than being transgender. Shocker there!
Host Jimmy Kimmel asked Jenner,
“Do you regret voting for President Trump?”
The Olympic athlete replied with the following,
“I don’t agree with everything he’s doing, but I have always been — I’m older, I grew up in a country where you actually said the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag at school. I never really outwardly came out and supported him. I supported whoever the Republican candidate was going to be, but the press kinda puts you there.”
When she made the comment about doing the Pledge of Allegiance as a child the crowd gave her a large and hardy applause. Jenner noted her Republicanism is founded in the belief of limited government and empowering small business owners. Something most Republicans can agree on. This is when Kimmel started giving her a hard time about her political beliefs as well as her party affiliation.
Kimmel asked Jenner what she felt was something good President Trump had done and Jenner immediately noted that she was very happy he appointed Justice Neil Gorsuch as the new appointee to the Supreme Court. As well, she was incredibly happy at his work towards decreasing regulations on business owners, an important issue for her. She expressed her belief that she felt business had become too tough to conduct in the United States. Jenner said,
“I don’t want massive regulations. I don’t want massive taxes. Especially since we’re the highest taxed country.”
Kimmel immediately yelled back,
“Not true! Incorrect!”
But when Jenner responded back with facts saying the United States has the largest corporate tax rate in the world Kimmel quickly became puzzled and looked as though he had been punched in the gut and retorted,
“I don’t know. I’ll have to look it up.”
What Kimmel doesn’t understand is that simple research proves that Jenner is right. But apparently being liberal means you don’t need those pesky things like facts.
A PolitiFact report from 2014 shows the United States does indeed have the largest corporate tax rate in all of the developed world. There was a total of 34 nations included in the report issued by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. They are a distinct group of the world’s more industrialized and advanced countries. The United States, not shockingly, is ranked as number one in corporate taxes. Our rate stands at 39.1 percent, whereas the average of other countries is 24.1 percent.
The White House even recently announced this past week that the administration is going to work towards getting the corporate tax rate to beneath 20 percent. Which would put it on par with the averages of other countries, but while on the campaign trail President Trump promised to work to get it more towards 15 percent.
Jenner even took a swipe at Kimmel and would not let up over his constant teasing and mocking of Jenner in the years prior to her transition saying,
“I slowly told all my children because it had just been hammered all over the media for the longest time. In fact, guys like you, making some jokes.”
Kimmel apologized and said nobody knew she was really transgender. People just thought she was vain. He quickly apologized and Jenner teased him about apologizing too late.
The Republican Party is diverse and full of people from all different, genders, sexualities, color, and religion. But the mainstream liberal media always wants to depict the party as one filled with old white men. The party is the party of Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, Condoleeza Rice, and Susan B. Anthony, their reputations and backgrounds speak for themselves.
Jenner is a perfect example of how unique and different the party can be. No matter what gender you are, the facts speak for themselves and Jenner certainly understands that.
